Microsoft has announced that they will be banning Xbox users that modify their Xbox 360’s illegally from its Xbox live services. Microsoft will be cracking down on the users that modify there systems in order to play illegal pirate game.

Xbox live’s director, Larry Hryb announced that Microsoft has already taken action against a small number of Xbox 360 consoles that have been modified, in order so that pirate games can be played on them.

So why all of the fuss? Well in the modification of an Xbox 360 you will be in violation of Xbox live’s terms of use, in doing so you will void your product of its warranty and be banned from Xbox live.

I just bought a 360 for Xmas & "It's mine to do with as I wish" & as for the frickin $60. games that are most likely built on inferior media now & again (every 13th disc burnt to a Rytec) well those are mine too, so if I feel like burning a copy of the disc I buy, then I'll copy it & I'll Mod My console to play it too & of course it's natural We should feel this way after all the dynamics of Buy & Sell have remained the same basicly for all time.
That is,until now!

Imagine this if You would ?
You buy a Chevy/ Ford/ Mopar & You decide to Fully Blow it Out (Mod it) when Your done You don't have the "Big-3" Peering in Your Virtual Door trying to see what it is that You've done to the product they sold You,Nor do they stop You from buying parts at the dealership because Your Fully Blown 1972 Hemi-Dart now emits more smog than when they sold it to You, or heaven forbid that it now consumes more fuel or a different type of fuel than they built it to consume.

So why does M$ get away with it? I don't know!

But it'S occured to Me & My paranoind mind has entertained the thought that maybe just maybe M$ might have paid off the Powers-That-Be & somehow gained the unprecedented rite to fully change the politics of Buy & Sell to the point where M$ has retaind a partial ownership of all M$ products, even after they are sold,I mean that's what it looks like to Me, but honestly now, Sell Me someting & then tell Me what I can & can not do with it. Now that just aint rite!

But as for the Live issue, well if You agree to the TOS then You really don't have a leg to stand on,Do You now?

I don't play these games (pong was my limit) but my 12yo son does. Why can't these stingy bastards put TWO copies of the game in the package for the price that they charge. That way your kid has one to play, and a "back up" if he/she has an "oops", so you can send the scratched one in for a replacement (at a minimal cost) while they play the "spare"

We bought "Halo 3" for my son, 50 bucks used! And I know damned well that they make these discs by the millions, yet they are rigged so you can't make a copy, even to protect your original. And I have bought several new games that had no visible scratches and simply would not play. Other older games got minor scratches that would play fine if they were music CD's but the games became worthless.

I say all of you hackers "go for it!!" When MS and the rest of these video game makers start treating their customers with a little respect, than just maybe I might get a little upset about a little "modding". But as long as they insist on treating the consumer like a naive, bottomless money pit, then they get what they deserve.

MS has all this money and piracy is not there problem, the current economy will be there problem if it gets any worse. To put there foot down or not piracy for MS should have no effect/or little. So WTF.

Where I can see that piracy is a problem for any company, it still feels like buying a Jeep and only being allowed to use it on the highway. When I buy something, I hate being told I can't use it to it's full potential.

I guess they'll start banning people who "mod" their computers by adding more ram next. Oh, right, forgot about the shrink wrap agreement that states.... Oh, never mind.
