I attend the Salvation Army in Montclair in New Jersey. The Salvation Army isn't just a founded organization, it's also a strong Christian Church. Many people don't know that! We have a huge part in brass banding and it's one of the leading in the world. I'm privileged to play in one of the top corps bands in the world at Montclair Citadel.

Lisa Marie: Something tells me that the Salvation Army wouldn't JUST give out deer or bison meat if you gave donations. If they do, something is totally wrong with your territory of the Salvation Army here in America.

In our area, we just drop our money into the bucket when we leave the store. We don't get anything in return, so that confuses me.

I do know this...Donations are DOWN this year... while need has almost doubled (in a large part, due to our economic crises). They really need the donations, in order to help folks. A penny can make the difference between spare change and a dollar. I challenge folks to give a dollar minimum when they walk into the stores, minimum of one bucket per store. If you pass one bucket at Walmart, drop in a buck. If you go into a Home Depot, drop in another.

We regularly waste money anyway on things like candy and soda pop. Make it a point to go without for a day or two.
