My boys are adjusting to condo living. It's not quite like having a huge open house to run and play in. Today is the second or third snow day in a row and no school for the Monday holiday, things are beginning to get rather confined. Here's hoping I'll get that playroom downstairs finished soon so that they have their own space to do as they want.

First, I have to finish a bit of drywalling, install a projector, move a ton of boxes still yet to be unpacked, and set up their "toy area". I had hoped to do that this weekend, but thanks to SNOW DAYS, that's just not going to happen.

In our area of Iowa, we have now officially broken all records for temps. The coldest day EVER recorded was today. What a claim to fame! I was here!!!

Snow days....... I say it's time to pop in a movie, pop some popcorn, and curl up with a friend on the sofa and stay warm..... too bad I don't have that warm friend available.... Snow days..... they're great for that...... snuggle partners and snow days are great together.......don't ya think? ;)

hahaha what a culture shock, Kaiya!

again, BigRedButton, you, too, are welcome to come to Iowa and take all you want! Right now there is a drift about three feet high on my deck! The wind is blowing HARD, and I hear it in the rafters!

Cliffy, I said I'd never own a game station of any kind, but that was before the Wii! It has been rather handy during snow days, and we have a rule that all Wii must be played standing and cannot be played sitting down, and he (7yr old) is limited to thirty minutes for free, and the rest he has to earn by good behavior. It's amazing how well behaved he's been today! hahaha

Our first winter in Colorado was the blizzard of '06, followed by weeks and weeks of temps in the single digits and weekly encore snowstorms. And I grew up in downtown Los Angeles! My kids were 6 and 10 at the time, and being from So. Cal. it was a novel experience for them as well.

The last 2 winters have been milder here, but we got a crash course in "seasonal" weather for sure. I have lately invested in jigsaw puzzles, dominoes and more "social" games for those "snow days" and by far the best video game system is the Wii for getting at least a little physical exercise.

There are still times (when they start that "sibling rivalry" in-fighting) that I wish "Ritalin" was available in aerosol form without prescription :).

The drawback to living in florida, we get all the cold, but none of the snow. My poor kids have yet to see snow and the oldest is 13. No snow days for us, but then, I guess that is part of the reason I homeschool them, thus when we need a break, I just give them the day to slack off.
