I've recently gotten very ill. I've been struggling with Fibromyalgia for the better part of the last year which has been hard, especially trying to keep my pain and energy up for my job. Someone at work thought it was cute to come to work with bronchitis and actually breathed in my face. I've been the #1 advocate that if you are sick, stay home! We have people at work that are in remission from cancer (very recently) and bringing those bugs and stuff to work is the last place those of us fighting auto-immune issues.
The very next day 911 was called and I had been in the hospital for 4 days. Now I'm home on home oxygen. I had just gotten a raise and a huge promotion. I was told if I needed to take medical leave that my position would be given to someone else temporarily until I get back but everyone knows that work politics say whatever they need to say to make a person feel at ease even if it's not the case.
I can't go back to work for 10 days and it feels like career suicide to me. I don't know what I'm going to have to deal with when I get back. Most of all I'm scared.
Anyway one else had to deal with this?
