Mozilla Dropping Firefox Support For Older Windows Versions

Mozilla is considering stopping support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP without Service Pack 3 when the new Firefox 3.5 is released in 2010, it was discussed about on their forum by developers and Mozilla executives, this includes Firefox's director. Mozilla is currently working on Gecko 1.9.1, Gecko is the engine that powers Firefox 3.5. Mozilla hopes to release Firefox at some point in the second quarter.

@Renderedcook: Actually the majority of people are on XP, also business'es said they wont be upgrading to windows 7 anytime soon. at the moment XP is used more then vista + windows 7 combined.

The date in 2010 is still not firm, and will likely get pushed up, and by then many will have switched to Win 7. I don't know many that run win 2k still, and if you are running less than XPsp3, you probably will have more problems than just Firefox not running correctly.

Kind of amazing considering that a few companies are still offering Windows XP with their new computers.
