So you lost your job that you have had for years. You haven't done the job search thing since before you got married and started a family. Now your oldest child is 13. Looking for a job has changed since you were last actively searching, but that doesn't mean that you should worry. In fact searching for a job has never been easier.
You no longer need to put on your best suit and leave your house to go out hunting. You only need a computer and internet access. There are many popular sites on the internet today and they all offer job seekers different things.
We are going to of course use The CaribPOP Career Resource, Recruitment and Marketing Site as our main site and for all example purposes.
So to start all you would need to do is go to CaribPOP.biz.
After that you can browse nearly 72,000 job listings throughout the United States.
Oh yeah.... Please feel free to create your very own resume that employers browse through.
Some tips to online job searching:

*ALWAYS check your spelling!!!
*If you are asked to pay to browse job listings, go elsewhere!
*Do not fill out any online resumes that ask for your social security number, bank info or credit card numbers.
*Clean up any MySpace, Facebook, CaribPOP, Twitter and any other social networking sites. Make sure you leave no traces of how much you hated your last job.
*Create an email address designated to receiving responses on your job search. You don't want people having your main email.
*Do not lie on any resume. You will be caught eventually.
*Stay positive! Losing your job may have just opened up a door that you would have never seen.
*Remember, YOU have no job so you are not better than the jobs that are available to you.

Now is the time to get your foot in the door before you are counting nickles, dimes and pennies for your next meal.

Good luck and as always...

Very good advice, thank you. I'm looking for a job myself, although I'm not unemployed so I can only search online at this time. I hope I can work in a better place soon.

Hints to find a job:
- unless you are willing to move - search for a job in your area
- Do you footwork during the weekend if you are
looking for a job in design or engineering etc.

- On saturday afternoon go to the local business area
and look in the parking lots and see what company has cars in the lot..
- busy businesses are probably working Overtime on Saturday.
note the company and call on monday - physically - dressed for
work. Or even just walk in and ask - really.

Accomplishes the following:
- allows you to find the companies that are really doing business
- allows you to potenially meet techs and engineers and managers
that need your help and do not have their guard up.
- You will get the meaningful interviews.
- you will not have to sit in a room with the other 50 applicants
in hopes you get the lucky 1 out of 50 applicants.
- the focus can be placed right on you and the solutions and help
you can bring to their table.

be creative in your sales pitch and approach.
for example:

One job I wanted required that I be interviewed by the President of the company.
I basically was getting nowhere so I ...
found out who he was and how to recognize him
then went to that company's Christmas Party, fit in like an employee (you can do it)
and professionally explained to the President how I came to help his company.
-- I got hired!

There are a lot of techniques that work. One biggee is to get rid of
the other applicants to improve your odds of getting hired.

Another tool is to get your mind set on getting That Job with
the XYZ company. Get to know the company, products, people that
are visible like managers and officers. If you can - get to know
who their customers are.
Act and be like you can be a asset rather than a drain that has to be
'hand held' for 2 months.

Next - don't be afraid to create that job for yourself - really!
tell your future boss he needs a person to help him with that stuff he
needs to get done - now ! - it will make him look good.

Good luck - I think you are clever enough to get that dream job - go do it.

Don Nagy :-)
