Download Our Windows 7 Tips!

If you are a developer that has to work with Windows everyday, I'm sorry. I know a lot of us doing enterprise development have to deal with Windows. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely thankful for all of the great tools and the great C# language. I love my job.

The only thing I don't like is Windows. Well, after this weekend I will not longer be using Windows at home. I'm now on the Mac at home. I am telling you guys, if you have never taken the time to see what Mac OS X is all about, please do so. I have been inspired by using the Mac to do some pretty neat things even with our business style applications in Windows. It really helps bring some creativity to Windows, and you and I both know it needs it.

However, with that said, I have a different goal than just being inspired for new ideas at work. I plan to continue on with learning more and more about Cocoa. I have spent a great amount of time trying to find some guides specifically for people that are coming from a .NET background. It is a major change, and some dedicated resources for this group would really help a lot of developers move to the Mac.

At any rate, I just wanted to post about this. I think I am making the right choice, out of all the Windows developers I know, I seem to be the only one that is taking the Mac seriously and considering it something that I may have to know in the future.

Please don't start a flame war over the Mac vs PC deal. I use both and have programmed in both, an OS is an OS and you should just use what you enjoy. These are just my personal opinions.

Hello Justin,

I enjoyed reading your blog. I really like discussions about an Operating System when there are valid points and no favoritism shown to one over another. I recently made the switch to Mac myself when I purchased my Mac Pro. I must say this machine does some wonderful things that I just could not experience on a Windows machine.

Whenever I use this Mac Pro I seem to always be in for a new surprise. I really like the spell check feature built into the actual Operating System. The spell check helps me a lot when typing documents for College and even this post right now. I was greatly and am greatly impressed with my experience with a Mac system, I only wish I owned a Mac sooner. Keep in mind I still do use Windows as well. Boot camp is very useful for the times I wish to play a modern PC game.

That is another thing I like about my Mac, I am able to play modern PC games via boot camp without any issues. When I hear the statement "Macs cannot game" it makes me curious if the one making the statement has used a Mac computer or reviewed youtube videos about gaming on a Mac.

But I too do not intend to start any war as I use and love both Operating System, however I am much happier personally with my experience with the Mac Pro and OS 10.
