I have been wanting to review this software for a while, but I never got around to doing so. Since the time I got my Mac last June, I have used this Preference Pane software on Mac OS X called iStat menus. This is an application that runs in your top menu bar where you can monitor your CPU and Memory Usage, Hard Drive Space, Network Connection, and a few more. It is absolutely free, but you have the choice to donate to them. I have not donated to them but will get to it sometime soon. If you want to get iStat menus, click here.

Yep. It is a really good, small foot print, program. I really do like to know when I am almost using all of my RAM.

Personally all I care about is how hot my Mac is running. I use smcFanControl, I have it setup to display the temp. It has the advantage of a menu which allows you to adjust the fan speed. I even added a "Highest" setting which get my fans cranking at 6000 rpms, for when my MBP gets up around 170F.

I think iStat menu is one of the best little utilities on my MBP. it's quiet, small foot print, and I always have an idea on what's happening with my machine, especially that I'm running VMWare Fusion, and sometimes it tends to start hoggin' up resources for no apparent reason. It's good to have iStat for a quick window into my system.
