It's Monday.
Ok. So I think we did so much in the couple of days that I posted, that by the time Friday night rolled around, and the convention meetings and festivities were being wrapped up, I was exhausted. I didn't go back downtown as originally planned. Instead, Ame and I went down to the lounge and met Vat and Jim. We just kind of hung out and listened to the artists playing there and mingled with the folks who remained. There were TVs there also, so Vat and I got to watch the UNC game and talk smack over that. While we were all "away" we had heard rumors that Tyler had broken his wrist or something... of course we found out that it was Zeller...not Hansbrough. . . What a relief...NOT THAT WE'D WANT EITHER OF THEM TO BE HURT!!!
Zeller's a frosh, and it's not "the hand". He's got plenty of time to baby it. Hansbrough is bound to be going pro. I'm looking forward to seeing the "pomp and circumstance" of the eventual proceedings for that. It was almost like thinking one of our "favorite shows" was going to be cancelled. *take a deeply shocked breath...hold it... find out all is right with the world...exhale*... (weeping silently for Pushing Daisies).
The Titans had arrived at the Marriott earlier, sometime in the afternoon, so there were police there as well. All in all, it was a quiet evening in the lounge as we chilled out while talking robotics and competition and NAIT structure and... challenges and... future NAIT possibilities... while watching the bright colors of the Titans blur around the hotel. As enjoyable as it was, it was difficult to maintain exuberance at that point (about 11:30 pm) while reminding ourselves that we still had to rise and shine at 6 am to kick a wheel.
We do know this. Next year, our convention will be in Louisville, KY. I can hardly wait.
Additional Note: The folks at the Marriott Airport were awesome. Special thanks to Zack, Michalina and Nora Marion (my new sista because she owns two of my family names!) These folks made things extra special and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and productive. We wanted for NOTHING. We got a soft, warm bed, Bath&Body products and plenty of soft, fluffy towels. Thanks for everything.
