As a kid I always wanted my own website, but the expenses of server time and bandwidth cost way to much money for me as a kid. Today there are many ways to have a web site up on the internet and the best part of that is that it's free. That's right free. Know I am not talking about the social networking of MySpace or Facebook but I am talking about a full pledged web site. Go to Google and search "Free Web Host" you get around 11,100,000 link results and most to a different web hosting provider.

Know that you have found the results for a free web host you are probably wondering "Wait, which one do Oi chose?" well that's up to you. It depends on what you want to do with your web programming career.

Here are some Questions you might want to ask your self when deciding what web hosting provider you like.

  • What server side programming language do I want to go into.
  • What is the best options for the shared hosting that would best support my web sites qualities?
  • Is my hosting provider in a position so that when I grow in the field of web development that I can expand my hardware and software options on my hosting providers server(usually for only dedicated servers)?
  • What file types will I be working with when creating a site that's good for me? (video, music, applications,etc...)
  • Does the server I am about to chose have a easy and accessible way to access the files and folder on you website so that their easily editable?

Once you have decided and registered with your free web host provider, you need to come up with a web site design. Lets look around. There are many ways to design a web site and many ways in deed but as todays browsers are getting more specific on the code that you can use the less ways there are on creating your web site. So rember to check your web site so that all of it's code is uptodate and can work with any browser(or and many as you can get it to work with).

No matter what, if anything, a particular Web host charges, your top concern is quality. You can pay a good chunk of money every month for a host that ignores your questions, offers poor tech support and/or crashes every few days. You can get free Web hosting with first-class service. Just because you buy the service does not mean that you will get what you deserve – and “free” is not always synonymous with “terrible.”...Excerpt from my most recent blog post thru blogspot.

You might consider getting a google blog spot site for starters. It's designed for a blog, but it's a good place to experiment with some basic html and make a respectable page for free.
