I do a lot of things on the Internet. Social Networking, blogging, youtubing, MMO FPS and everything else a geek does. I have 25GB of usage a month and I will most likely chew that up in a couple of weeks. Is this normal? Now that you tube is allowing HD movie I think this also might play a part in my meal of gigabytes.

But after I graduate High school it will be my job to pay the Internet. So my plan is to beef it up, 50GB all for me and I will assure a lightning fast speed as well.

Australia's Internet speed seems to be behind the rest of the world (so I am told). We have a maximum speed of 24000kps and I am unsure of the upload.

So what I am asking you is, how much internet usage do you have a month and what is your countries maximum speed?

Also take a look at my fresh new blog.

In New York - Cablevision gives me 15Mbps down* and 2 Mbps up*
(*These are the numbers they tell you, but realistically you will never see these numbers. I average around 12Mbps down directly connected to my modem)

I use "NetMeter" to monitor my bandwidth usage and generally use about 60GB on my desktop and 45GB to 60 on my ASUS 1000h netbook.

These bandwidth caps are gonna get interesting as soon as more people start using netflicks, hulu, downloading podcasts etc......

It's gonna such when I get a better computer and can game again...I'm pretty sure even Comcasts caps could be breached if I had time to watch HD vids and game online.....

I live in Canada. Canada has some of the worst competition in the world for any form of communication: internet, wireless phones, home lines, etc, mainly because there are only 3 providers that charge what they want and can play the government without any backlash. It pisses all of us off, however the public has next to no power to change anything when it comes to those companies policies.

I get capped at 60GB a month with a download speed of about 5mb and upload of about 500kb with Rogers Cable. My connection is usually okay until I start using torrents, which Rogers throttles.

I have no clue, and won't until Comcast finally gives me the the bandwidth measuring tool that I've been hearing about for so long.

But in the three days since I've rebooted this computer (Thank you MS for that security fix...), just in torrent traffic alone, it's been 16 gigs, coming and going. My wife streams TV shows, anywhere from 5 to 10 per day, although she's usually only here one week out of four. Then there are the large files that she FTPs on a regular basis, and the RDP sessions. There's the kids that use it for their YouTube and downloading needs. And then there's my laptop, and my wife's laptop.

I do know that I have personally used over 5 gigabytes in an 8 hour period. That was shortly after my arrival home from South Africa, where I made do with 2 gigabytes, total, sending and receiving, for a while month. A lot of that was uploading my pictures I had up to Flickr. I also had a lot of downloading of attachments, one month's worth.

It wouldn't surprise me to be close to the 350GB/month I get.

I wouldn't be supr
