Google has changed the way we use the internet. First they brought us a simple search engine that grosses over 300+ million dollars annually then they brought us Google maps a fun tool that uses satellite images for real time look at the earth then came adsense every webmasters dream Google pays webmasters to play ads on content rich sites
then they brought us a revolutionary email client as we know as gmail but whats next is gonna top all that and more because Google is introducing the Google wave its the brand new way to chat. What is the wave you ask well... A "wave" is equal parts conversation and document, where people can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more. ok now your wonder how the hell this will work its quite simple Here's how it works: In Google Wave you create a wave and add people to it. Everyone on your wave can use richly formatted text, photos, gadgets, and even feeds from other sources on the web. They can insert a reply or edit the wave directly. It's concurrent rich-text editing, where you see on your screen nearly instantly what your fellow collaborators are typing in your wave. That means Google Wave is just as well suited for quick messages as for persistent content — it allows for both collaboration and communication. You can also use "playback" to rewind the wave and see how it evolved.

I watched this a while back. The program looks great. I would love to try it out. I wonder when they plan to release it to the general public.

I've watched the demo as well, I can't wait to use it. In some senses it makes me think of live sharing on Microsoft Office Onenote (Nowhere near as cool as wave)

As busy as my schedule is, I sat and watched the entire hour+ demo. But here's the thing. I didn't realize it was an hour long. I just looked up and noticed, "woh! I've been sitting here for an hour!" I was so intrigued, I couldn't take my eyes off of it. And it wasn't b/c the demo was like looking a car wreck or anything. It was actually quite refreshing. Amazing technology. I don't think we really know yet what the future holds in the industry due to this new technology. ESPECIALLY since its opened up to the developer community to add their creative flair to. My friend, an Oracle employee, also sat through the entire thing. I can't wait to start using this technology. I am curious to see though, how will this interact, if at all, with other email & IM protocols and programs. That could be the factor that determines adoption rate.

It looks pretty amazing indeed, however an hour and twenty minutes just to watch the demo... it will take some time to catch on. I think the possibility for it to not take off would lie in that some people will be learning the basics of using it a year or two after others are using it ways that makes it seem like a complex and incomprehensible beast to those learning the basics. Google would have the money to see things through a long transition though, I imagine. I have to say that I didn't watch an hour and twenty minute demo. I watched a 10 minute video that was a lot of content edited to throw a lot of content at you all at once, and only really explained the possibilities more than showing them when it came to the less than basic features, and it was a bit much for me.

Also, Google Wave may be a natural progression, but its fair to say that its a fast enough progression that its pretty well innovative as well. I think it may be enough to in the end finally make social networking of all kinds just plain boring after some time has passed... if something ever has the ability to really bring online indulgent behaviour too close to the reality of real friendships where it effects people's relationships with those they see off-line as friends, this may be that thing.

when you use replay you can even go back into the part of the conversation that you missed and add you contribution. Wave is like a natural human conversation, you can even talk over the top of someone else, but in etc, except with text :D except i wouldn't be that rude.
