Honestly, when was it signed away that customers were no longer treated as customers? Allow me to explain.

I paid over 350 dollars for an Xbox360, 20 gigabyte hard drive, Fallout3, and Fallout3: The Pitt expansion. Needless to say, I had fun... until I beat the game in five hours and found out that the expansion was nothing more than a jumble of meaningless side quests that didn't progress the storyline at all. Well, if you guys know the fallout series, you'd know that it is a game that takes a long... long time to complete the main storyline, and won't disappoint you. Well... it is my personal opinion that Bethesda has utterly slaughtered the series, taking it out of what it should have been, and placing it into the light of a side-quest filled game that's perfect for the gamer that wants to look into every aspect of the game, or is ADD/OCD. As for those that wish to follow the storyline, they will be disappointed.

Well, okay, so I made up my mind that I was going to take the system back. Now, its been a while since i had an off day, so I had to wait for one so that I could take the system back and deal with all the signing. I've had the system for no more than 13 days, well within the 30 day standard return policy of most stores. Well, when i walk in, they tell me "after the first day, we can't refund your money." ... who makes up their minds in 24 hours if they want or do not want a system??? Seriously? And then, what really irritated me beyond all belief was how their condescending nature in explaining their return policy to me. I'm not an idiot, I understand that a day is 24 hours, and that a week is 7 days. So apparently, there is no 30 return policy as the employee whom I purchased the system from, which just also happened to be the one explaining this to me, told me about. However, I was able to get 113 dollars for my hard drive and Fallout 3.

What in the heck am I supposed to do with a 205 dollar console and a useless 20 dollar expansion? Well, I guess I'll find out when I try to sell it to my buddies around here. Anyone looking to buy a 360?

What about you guys? Have you had any luck with Gamestop stores in your area, or are they just as bad as mine?

Cliffy: Perhaps I don't have the means to sell to a venue such as craigslist? Perhaps I was unhappy with my purchase? Is it a good business practice to not assist unhappy customers? If so, then I believe there is something wrong with the business. Basically, I had played five games previously, in which, I didn't quite like any of them. I didn't like the system, I didn't like the games, I wasn't happy with my purchase, I wanted a refund. Simple enough. I mean, you go to any store and buy an appliance, and then take it back within thirty days, they'd be glad to refund the money, or give you store credit EQUAL to your purchase, not 1/4th the value of your purchase.

Senchi: Actually, the refunded my used hard drive and my used copy of Fallout 3, but they would not refund the console or the fallout 3 expansion.

Paul: I simply was not happy with my purchase, and I was returning it within a reasonable ammount of time. Now if wires were hanging out of it, or it was six months, I would understand a refusal of a refund, but not when it had been less than two weeks. Nor can I understand refunding one piece of hardware while not refunding the other.

I have learned from experience not to go to Gamestop. They are not even close to fair on trade value. I started going to the Swaptree website for my games. There I can trade a game I don't want for one I do. Straight up swap. Not sure what to tell you about the console. I sold my old one to Movie Trading Company. They offered more than Gamestop.

Places like that are greedy. For example, you buy a $50 game, you go to return it like the next day, and they offer you like $20 for it. You are better off selling on eBay!

also with the next expasion the storyline should go further...
but is not the point, you played a game for 2 weeks, until you though..hmm i dont like it...lol
also console doesnt have any issue, so its normal that they wont take it back!!
and you beat the games, withouth make experience , no explore ..rush and run..if its possible..i dunno.

The only thing sadder than your actually thinking that you have the right to return a game console for a full refund simply because you didn't like one game, is the fact that Chris Pirillo would feature your totally unjustified rant in his news letter.

By your own admission neither the game nor the console were faulty. And no legitimate business has any obligation to accept the return of used merchandise of any kind. Get over your misplaced feelings of indignation, and sell the damned things on Craigslist!

Remember, regardless of what you may have heard during the last election cycle, the world DOES NOT owe you a living!

Well if you're going to go out and buy a system they assume you probably read about it. And the games you buy they assume you probably read about it and want the game.
Who goes out and buys a $350 system without knowing what's on it and if you're gonna like the games you play on it?

I would like to know why you returned a whole xbox 36o just because you didn't like a game? That's a waste of technology IMO.

Alright, to Clifton, I thought it was common sense you couldn't return a used game. O.O And since they dun sell new Xbox games at any Game Stop I know of, then you should have known.

And the Game Stop over by my house is amazing, the customer service is awesome there to the point of me not going there just for games, I stop by every so often to have a nice chat with the employees about gaming and stuff. They've become pretty good friends of mine now. The employee you might have been working with was probably new or something, because that is pretty odd that they wouldn't give you money back...

As a former employee, I must say this. GameStop Corporate is greedy for money and will do whatever they can to get your money. You can get your money back for the system. Not sure what the people at that GameStop are smoking. I'd take it to another location. All you need is the receipt, all the connections and cords, etc.
