I have been using BlackBerry for almost three years now, along side, and sometimes in place of my iPhone. I have always been impressed with their message management and prompt e-mail delivery. The one popular BlackBerry I had never tested was Verizon’s BlackBerry Storm. I had heard the “stories”, but wanted to try it for myself. I was getting bored with my iPhone 3G and wanted a phone with better e-mail and messaging capabilities. I really did not use many of the apps for the iPhone, especially the games. However, I do send out lots of e-mails and text messages.
I picked up the BlackBerry Storm over a week ago, and I have been loving this phone. It has the modern appeal with the touch screen capabilities, with all the features you have grown to expect from BlackBerry. The BlackBerry Storm 2 is rumored to come out yet this year, which will be very exciting. The BlackBerry Storm is no “iPhone Killer” and I really do believe it is geared toward a somewhat different audience then the iPhone.
Tips/Suggestions for the BlackBerry Storm:
Install all of the updates! Even if Verizon has not approved them you can still download them and install the updates via the desktop manager.
Take advantage of the new App World, I found many of the same apps in there as I did in iTunes.
Visit Crackberry often, this is the main hub for all things BlackBerry.
Download the applications Storm Lock and Stop Tilt. There are cheap and must have applications.
Take advantage of the BlackBerry Messenger App, where you can message your friend who have a BlackBerry for free.
The BlackBerry Storm is not for everyone, but it is the perfect device for me at this time. However, I will be watching to see what Apple does with the iPhone at WWDC :)
