My Take On The Beatles

The Beatles were a great rock band... in their time. The Beatles were great, they were a BIG hit and almost all the girls loved them but, If you were to take the Beatles and put them with the bands today they wouldn't be anything close to being as big of a hit as they were. The main reason that they were a big hit was because they introduced the style of basic soft to moderate rock. Of course talent wise they are no better than the Red Hot Chili Peppers who are still around and playing together! And I'm not saying that either band is bad but, talent wise they are nothing close to bands like, Cream, the Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floydd, Journey, and my two favorite bands of all time Queen with Freddy Mercury who I believe is the best rock singer of all time and Jimi Hendrix who is with no doubt the best guitarist of all time! Basically the Beatles were known for two things 1) Starting the soft rock/moderate rock era 2) Girls liked them. Like I said if they were still in a band today they wouldn't be very popular at all.

Comment by Jacob Fisher on October 17, 2008 at 4:44pm: Yeah, but I wouldn't say that Robert Johnson created rock and roll I think the Eagles and Elvis mainly contributed in that and Chuck Berry brought a great new sound. I don't really know too much about Robert Johnson but I've heard a couple of his hits.

Yeah people usually recognize that he was a great guitar player, but they don't usually take into account what time period he was making music. Same with Robert Johnson. Hell, Robert Johnson basically invented Rock and Roll.

But there are much more important musicians. I'd have to say the most important would be either Robert Johnson or Chuck Berry. Both did more for Rock and Roll than any other musician.

i agree that freddie mercury is one of the greatest vocalists of all time, i think the best vocalist of our generation is maynard from the bands tool, a perfect circle and pucifer.
he hits some amazing notes in Tool without it sounding like he is straining his voice at all.
