So my birthday is coming up next week, and I have no clue what I want from people. This happens to me on my birthday, as well as Christmas. I hate when people ask, "What do you want for your birthday?" because I never have an answer. Of course there are many many things out there that I want, but none of them fit the gift category. Like I would love a new car, but I can't ask for that now can I.
The really sad part about the gift issue I have is that I do it to myself. Throughout the year if I want or need something I just go get it. Everything that would be a great gift for me turns out to just be something that I buy anyway. For example, I wanted a larger external hard drive. Instead of waiting for my birthday to roll around, I just went out and bought it. I have a problem with waiting for things like that. If I want it, I just go get it.
The easy solution would be to just wait, and then ask for it. That's really hard to do though. I'm sure many of you have this problem too. The whole hurry up and wait thing doesn't work for me. Patience is a virtue, but waiting sucks. So with my birthday soon approaching, I will be left with gift cards to ask for. Which are great, but I know a lot of people would rather get me something more specific.
I just think it's really bad when you are asked the question of what you want, and you have to get back to them because you have to "brain storm" to get ideas. Last Christmas I had to look through catalogs and surf the internet to find what I want. It should be the other way around. You tell them what you want and they surf to find it.
On top of all this, I'm getting to the age where birthdays are just another day, and I really don't want a reminder that I'm getting old. I'll be 25, which isn't old, but from here on out I have nothing to look forward to as far as age goes. My insurance went down, so that was a nice gift. Now I just get old. In 5 years I'll be 30, and that's scary to me. Here I thought I could me 10 my whole life. :(
