20090109 - End of Leave

So it has been a pretty good two weeks (give or take a day or two). While I was home in Jacksonville I had a chance to sit and ruminate on life, build a deck for my mum, and I went and saw Seven Pounds this afternoon. Unfortunately I have to go back to Lemoore this weekend and then to work on Monday *gags dramatically*.

Just wanted to post a picture up of the deck, maybe it's not a geek thing, but it is one hell of an accomplishment.


The last things that need to be done are the posts cut to length, endcaps installed on those posts, and ten (yes, I counted) fasteners in the top of the lattice railing. Took awhile to finish this project, though it could have gone by in about 3 days by myself, if I had bothered to really bust my ass on it. Mum's happy with it, and we even planted ornamental grass in front of the deck so the bare area (sugar sand is a BITCH) was not there anymore. Goes to show you can build anything if you apply yourself to it. I guess the next time I'm in Jacksonville I'll start installing a water feature in the other part of the yard for her, decks not being my forte.
