The Currie Cup Final

The Currie Cup is a local rugby tournament between all the provincial teams in the country. Last year the Cheetahs (from the Free State) won. This year the final would be contested between The Sharks (from Durban) and the Blue Bulls (from Pretoria).

I spent the weekend of the final in a hotel on the beach front. The hotels were all packed for the weekend with people coming down for the match. I saw a lot of Bulls supporters. Many were staying at the same hotel as me. They were all dressed in their blue and white and made quite a racket on their way to the stadium on Saturday. I wasn't fortunate to get a ticket...they were all sold out within hours of going on sale mere hours after the semi-final. No matter I got to watch the match in the hotel room with some friends and we made sure everyone knew who we were rooting for. It was a tense match and very close but the Sharks pulled through in the end. It was quite an emotional moment when the captain hoisted the trophy.

The Sharks are the greatest! GO SHARKS!!

Bonus -- Liverpool beats Chelsea this weekend. That was the cherry on the cake.
