I just added three new friends to my growing list of friends here on Geeks. It is really nice to see who wants to be your friend. You know I want to know, what we may have in common. Are we a member of the same group/groups? Do we have friends in common? Are we both dying to have the NEW MACBOOK? Just little things like that are nice to know.

I also noticed that you can IGNORE a person asking to be your friend. Now this is something cleaver. You can just act like the person is not even asking to be your friend. Have you ever chosen this option? I must say, I have not. ALL THE FRIENDS THE BETTER, I SAY! It's not really a big deal, is it. Not like you have to have this person over for dinner. It's not like they are going to want your last slice of pizza and you feel like you have to give it to them because they are company and your new friend and all that. So, I mean really what would make you say no to someone asking to be your new friend here?

Now, I can see if they had some kind of wired screen name that gave you the heebie-geebies or had a picture that you did not like for example, that one of the baby with it's mouth wide open and sharp teeth and demon face. ( have you seen that one?) Boy, it is creepy! Every time I see it I close my eyes. That one just might not ever make my friends list and he or she could be a great person but oh, well, I just get too shook up over that picture.

So, when a new person ask what do you say?

To be honest - I tend to be rather picky about who I set as friends myself. I think I have something like 15 - 20 friends pending indefinitively on my Facebook account, while I have let a number of people just time out on other social networks I have been hanging around.

I do agree with "the beard"'s approach, and I would prefer to actually have learned something about the person that I *allow* to be added as a friend. But I do of course realize that we probably put different emphasis on the term "friend". But at least I would like it to be ... well, not exactly a mark of quality - but at least to be someone that I in one way or another feel is on the same wavelength as myself. Just as IRL.

See, this is what happens, when you keep the wet end wet and the dry end dry.

Babies are simple. You just keep the dry end wet, and the wet end dry. Nothing else to it really.

"Ignore" is a powerful action.

i personally have never set someone to ignore, i know someone has put me on ignore though. maybe i talk to much? heh
i usualy just leave the requests there untill i actually communicate with the person, i dont accept random invites.
if someone personalizes it i add them.

your blog post sort of ties into my blog post called "adding friends" you might want to check it out if you have the time.
