Election Spam AKA Are you registered to vote???
Three Facts about Me:
First: I like choice. In America, it's my choice to have a child... or more of them... and it can be my choice to not have any. It can also be my choice to adopt more than one... or none. We can even choose the child's gender in America, which can also be done in China... What if this were China where there are "choice limitations". In specific provinces in China, the limitations are held to the letter of the law. Involuntary sterilization & forced abortion. There is no choice past basic gender decisions. You make ONE child, preferably male and healthy, without defects. Period. Or else.
Second: I'm completely for gun education. When I was in high school, we had the opportunity to take extracurricular gun-related certifications. We were educated on the ills of mishandling firearms, from legal issues to other ...potential results; how to handle them as if ALWAYS loaded. No, we were not allowed to handle the items on campus. It included theory and images, videos and question and answer sessions. We were then allowed to be tested on this knowledge, in written form. Education is important. I cannot state this enough.
Third: I do not have insurance. I cannot afford it. For me, affordable health care means health care on a pay as you go level. I need to hold on to the money to pay the other bills... like food and gas and clothing and heating bills, rent, etc. My daughter needs it more.
The rest is probably better classified as a "rant".
We've all received the election spam, phone polls, postal mail, seen the commercials, etc. "Barack is a terrorist facilitator... McCain is anti-Asian..." etc etc... Yes. These things are out of context. People will continue to use these sorts of "statistics" to justify their points...It is their compromise on the truth...Therefore, I must be the one to compromise and choose the best folks I can on the state and local levels as well. . . to even things out, so to speak.
I'm pretty well decided on local and state folks, seeing as they are "closer to home" and easier to evaluate on performance. It's the pres & veep candidates I'm most concerned with at this time. These folks aren't from my state so everything I must rely upon is statistical information from the Interwebs sites, families, TV, etc. I've read McCain ... and I've read Obama. I have done my best to understand POV's. www.Snopes.com has become a good friend recently. The .orgs aren't all that great honestly. Anyone can buy a .org address, it seems and *insert truth here* without referencing specifics. Sure. I'll take your word for it...uh.. No.
We don't have an incumbent president, nor an incumbent veep to be able to evaluate past performance. Both parties are completely "new". One, a war hero, a political maverick; the other, not a war hero, but has his own level of experience with how his mother and grandmother raised him, knowing how difficult single parenting can be... Both agree that changes need to be made. Both have different opinions & plans on how to settle the issues. Both have things to offer that I like... Things are tough all over.
I try to remember that my friends and family mean well when sending me email spamming stuff. Sometimes this can be difficult to handle. Sometimes they are merely followers. I've received calls once a day from those who think I'm wrong... to think for myself. "You need to do this.. or that... or whatever..." I'm pro-choice and pro-gun. I have no doubt that these...lobbies... will continue to prevail.
I'm very concerned with how on earth I'll retire as well as how will I survive the road to retirement. This is a difficult election for me, and I expect for others as well. If you still plan to spam me, please offer complete information as well as links where it can be found so those of us who are doing our best to make the right choice can look at it and take it in as much information as possible. If you really want to prove your points, please do so with factual information, if you want me to take you seriously. If I want your POV, I'll ask you for it. Be ready.
