Election day is nearing. A new American president will soon be unpacking at 1600 Pennsylvania. Will a new American administration be enough for the global community to forgive America?

Forgive America for starting a war that the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan says is illegal?

Forgive America for what former president Jimmy Carter and current presidential hopefuls John McCain and Barack Obama have called torture?

Forgive America for the tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children in Iraq who have been killed due to the American invasion?

Forgive America for being the world's leading polluter and world's leading contributor to the destruction of the planet's environment by global warming and for spending the past 8 years resisting the international community's effort to slow or stop the destruction of the environment?

I have a hope and a belief that the global community WILL FORGIVE America when a new president and administration is in place. The reason I believe that is because I believe the vast majority of the planet's citizens realize that the majority of American citizens do not believe in attacking and occupying sovereign nations.

I believe the global community will forgive America because I believe most of the planet's citizens believe that the vast majority of American citizens do not believe in torture.

I believe the global community will forgive America because I believe they know the majority of Americans believe in protecting our environment and the plants and wildlife that depend on that protection for their survival.

Yes, indeed I do believe that with a new American administration that the global community will be forgiving and will welcome America back as humble, law abiding, conscientious nation. A nation that with a new administration will once again be a world leader in human rights not a world leader in the development and implementation of torture techniques. Once again be a world leader in cutting edge technologies, in science, in engineering, in environmental protections, not a world leader in ignoring and denying the developing environmental crisis.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates recently asked for forgiveness for innocent Afghans citizens that have been killed. I may have missed it, but I've never heard the current American president apologize for ANYTHING. Not for starting a war based on faulty information at best or lies at worse. Would not Lincoln, Roosevelt or Kennedy just have told Americans (and Iraqis) I'm deeply sorry, our intel was wrong and our premise for starting this war was inaccurate and this war was a grave mistake? What kind of human being never shows remorse? Isn't there a psychological definition for that type of mind?

On inauguration day I don't know if the next president will ask for forgiveness from the international community but on this day this American is asking for that forgiveness. And this American hopes that for as long as America remains a nation... we never again have an administration such as the one we are now suffering through that has brought such shame and embarrassment to our country.

It'll surely help a lot. Whatever happens it'll be a first for the nation too, either a Black President, or a Female Vice President (granted she seems a little dim to me, I'm sure others agree lol). I actually think Clinton was a great President, many will dissagree, but think about it, he made a huge surpluss of national wealth, only used military force as a last resort and was actually intelligent and came accross as such. He also did some real help in Northern Ireland in helping the peace process, so for that we repsect him a hell of a lot (In the UK at least). You have to ask yourself where the values and priorities lie in a country that tries to get a President impeached for getting a blowjob, yet allow another to cause thousands upon thousands of people to die in a bloody mess of a war that doesn't look like it'll end any time soon. The world is screwed up.
