What Is Your Creative Process?

I am obsessed with creation in all of its many forms. From media such as music, photography, film, and so forth to writing, philosophy, illusion and other liberal arts. Today I was thinking about my love for creating, producing media for myself and others to enjoy. I thought how many would say I am a very creative person, but I tend to disagree. While I do have many creative juices flowing through me, the way I create is somewhat limited. For me to create I must first find a central idea or co… Continue

Vista, XP, OS X, Oh My!

So, this past March I purchased my first computer in a long while. I had been operating off of a borrowed computer for several months as at the time I was not really a “tech geek”. Since then I have certainly become undeniably geeky and have gained an amazing amount of knowledge in such a small time period. At the time I knew the issues some had experienced with Windows Vista, but figured it was worth a shot. So since then I have been working inside of Vista Home Premium with wonderful success…… Continue

Wanting To Get Involved

I am having an extreme urge to really get more involved in any way with technology or gaming on the ‘net. I have been blogging and tried to get involved in community for a while now, but perhaps its not my “cup of tea”, at least as my full time involvement. Ideally, i’d love to do podcasting, but I am more than open to any way to get involved, help, or just talk with the tech or gaming community (or, communities). If you have any suggestions, please e-mail me or comment this blog post. I am o… Continue

Scariest Gaming Moment

This very question was posed in the October issue of the publication GameInformer, and I wanted to copy it on to the community here. What is the scariest moment you have experienced in a video game? I’m not just talking about little “oh my goodness” moments and scary stories. I’m talking the moments that made you jump like a kid in a haunted house. My top contenders would be virtually any moment from the Condemned series or a particularly scary event from the smash hit BioShock. I was walking… Continue

Looking For Gaming Podcast Partner

I am actively searching for a partner to do a gaming podcast with. The only requirement I have is that you are a serious, passionate gamer and know more about podcasting than I do... which isn't hard. haha On my PC I have tried using Audacity but failed horribly, so someone who could actually record the podcast would be a huge help. I am, of course, willing to do whatever I can for the podcast as well. I am a writer with a good deal of experience, so I could certainly write out show plans and s… Continue

Is Online Gaming Killing Split Screen?

I remember being a small child and playing the NES with my dad. We, of course, started with mario brothers. He’d fall into a pit and then suddenly i’d get to be Luigi! It was a very satisfying system. Then came the split screen. My dad and I could play the same game together at the same time! Fighting enemies as father and son… what a wonderful time. With each console this system evolved. You could race together, shoot together, wrestle together and more. Then with the console boom (ps2, xbox e… Continue

9-11 - Never Forget

7 years ago today I remember my grandmother calling me and my mom at home and telling us to turn on the TV as a plane had flown into the "World Trade Center". Being just 9 years old I had no clue what this "trade center" was, but I quickly learned. Turning on the TV we saw the smoke and flames coming out of the first building, the chaos quickly increasing. Suddenly we saw images of a plane fly straight into a tower and, thinking it was video of the first one, we didn't worry. Soon we realized th… Continue

8 Weight Loss Tips From A Living Success Story

Before you ask, no, I am no weight loss expert. I am, however, a success story. Starting January 1st of this year I began a diet program all on my own. No books, no tv gurus, just science and the will to lose weight. And though I am still not “skinny” (a term which I despise with every fabric of my being) I have lost over 50 pounds in just over 6 months. I never set foot in a gym, and was always satisfied after a meal. No starvation, no Nicole Richie anorexia, just good science, good psychology… Continue

Your LEGO Stories?

Well, with Chris talking about LEGO's recently it has made me think back to when I used to build my own LEGO creations. Still would, actually, but have no where to put the finished product... Anyway, i'm sure all of us building-geeks have stories about disasters or triumphs, care to share? Mine would have to be when I spent a good week making this huge skateboard half-pipe. I worked like mad on this thing... putting on stickers, making sure everything was just right, wondering about those extr… Continue

Security, The Future Of Consumer Technology?

This morning I was watching Good Morning America when they did a segment about a lady who lost $1,500 worth of camera’s (obviously she was not a geek, seeing as no self respecting geek would take their eyes, or hands, off of that much tech) and got it back through Eye-Fi, a digital memory chip that wirelessly uploads photos to your computer when near a Wi-Fi source. This brought up the topic of gadget and tech security with various programs such as Gadget Trak and built-in protection through pro… Continue

Geeks Predictions?

Well, the 1,000 and 2,000 member marks were hit pretty fast. What are your predictions for the 5,000 and 10,000 marks? My best estimation would be 5,000 within the next two weeks and 10,000 within the next two months. You? C Continue

What Crazy Stuff Have You Survived?

Ever sit back and are amazed by the things you have lived through in your life? If so, i’d love to hear your stories. If not… well, think about it and then send them on! In my, rather short, existence I have been through 3 hurricanes, an ice storm, picked up by a tornado, flipped a lawnmower down a hill… and somehow survived while being incredibly sarcastic… amazing right? What about you guys? C www.lockergnome.com/amazenyou Continue

The Web Browser, The Future Of Portable Computing

Many years ago I imagine there was a business man sitting in front of his computer (with a monitor the size of texas, no doubt) typing all of his hand-written notes from the latest business conference when suddenly he thought “Why not have a computer that I can take with me to the conferences and take notes with?” Read the rest at http://www.lockergnome.com/amazenyou/2008/09/04/the-web-browser-the-future-of-portable-computing/ Continue
