MSI Wind U100-432US

A little back story: In perhaps an ironic twist of fate considering my last blog post, the Internet was cut off by mistake at our apartment for a few days. I ended up having to lug around my bulky Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop to grab Wi-Fi and do school work. In addition to it's bulk, the major problems with this setup were the fact that I could only pick up a Wi-Fi signal on this laptop with an external card that only… Continue

Will Video Kill The Podcast Star?

It seems like more and more podcasters are taking advantage of streaming video services like USTREAM. These services not only allow users to see their favorite podcasters, but also gives them an opportunity to interact with the show and other users through the built in chat. It makes for a more engaging experience for the audience. There's something that can be said for actually seeing the emotions coming from the person you are hearing. As of the present, there are clear advantages to download… Continue

My apps

I've owned an iPod Touch for a good while now and I use it every day so I thought I would share some of my favorite apps so far.
IM+ Lite
It's a free multi-protocol instant messaging client. It's ad supported but it works.
TweetDeck

I guess I am special

According to some, I shouldn't exist. That's right, folks! I am a living, breathing, bigendered person. Bring me sacraments of ice cream sandwiches! It seems that my kind is so rare, that our community hardly exists at all and when it is discussed online the ignorant masses shuffle in to tell us that we are not telling the truth, do not belong, or that we can only be one or the other gender. Yes, bigender is a subset of transgender, but it is different from what most trangendered people go throu… Continue

Review: TomTom One 130

It's easy to get lost where I live. I moved to Columbus, Ohio during the beginning of the year, and I was surprised by just how many roads there are. My boyfriend had lost his Magellan RoadMate, and it won't be long now until I get my car up here, so I decided to buy a GPS unit for the both of us. I ended up buying the TomTom One 130 because it was the cheapest unit they had at the Wal-Mart we stopped at and… Continue

WoW < RoM

I recently played World of Warcraft for about a week on a free trail. I liked the game, but two factors ultimately made me quit. For one, it's a huge waste of money. Secondly, I got tired of running in to fail errors and having to jump through hopes just to get my account set up and later on while trying to get the full game. Blizzard tech support was awesome, but the tech support at direct2download where I tried to purchase the full game was non-existent. The other day, I heard mention of a fr… Continue

Good Idea, Bad Idea

There have been many great innovative products over the years that have made our lives a little better. I doubt there isn't a human on the planet who has not at least briefly heard mention of an iPod. The people behind these products had a great idea, and they ran with it. On the other hand, there has been even more bad products that have come out over the years. Does anyone remember the Virtual Boy? So it's because of this that I've decided to create this little blog column to feature some of… Continue

YIM Connection Issues

I've not been able to connect to Yahoo Instant Messenger using my default instant messaging client Miranda IM. I've tried updating the software, uninstalling it, and reinstalling it. I've tried downloading and installing a new multi protocol IM client called Pidgin, and although it worked with a little bit of tweaking, I can't get over how creepy their mascot is. When I saw that their mascot was prominently placed on the upper left hand corner of the clien… Continue

Mobile Communications: Eliminating The Need To Be Anywhere In Particular

I recently participated in a class discussion for school. The discussion was on where technology would be 10 years from now and how we would access the Internet. In my humble opinion, the real advances will be in mobile technology. There's a real need to get out of the house or office whenever possible, and Silicon Valley has been very aware of this for some time. Laptops and cellphones have been around for a long time. The problem with these devices is that they are either too cumbersome and b… Continue

Console vs. Computer Gaming

I've been a fan of console gaming since the Nintendo Entertainment System, but lately I've been playing games on my computer more. I own a PS3. I've spent a lot of time on one of my friend's Xbox 360, but the only game that I found myself totally addicted to on that platform was Uno on Xbox Live. No games on the 360 really kept my interest. There have been some great games for the PS3, but it is in my opinion that they have been few and far between. The only game that I really truly loved for t… Continue
