What is it with MAC Web Creation Software????

All these great MAC packages..... yet... none appear to be able to IMPORT a current site! Are these apps just aimed at a first timer? Don't they want people to convert to their amazing software? Its rather frustrating!!!!!! Continue

I know when I am technically bored when...

... I start to mull over and ponder over stuff that is overpriced, but at the moment I feel I'd like to have and play around with for a bit. I have a pretty new PC here, does all I want, but I start to look around..... thinking, faster this.... faster that... Wondering if I can be bothered with maybe going 64 bit Windows 7, then think why bother as 32bit does me fine enough... and so it goes on! *ENABLING DAN MUFFLERS* I also wandered into the local Apple store and had a play around with the n… Continue

PC - MAC & UBUNTU 9.10

Feeling like I should tidy up the pit here, I decided to power up the spare machine to see what I had installed on the hard drive. Seems I still had a copy of Ubuntu on it, so logged in and decided to do the upgrade to 9.10. As I am sitting here in front of my WIndows 7 PC and the iMac with Snow Leopard on it, I am thinking... how on earth can anyone get excited about the way Ubuntu looks? If you put the three systems in a line, based on visual experiences it would be: The new Ubuntu startup s… Continue

CONSPIRACY THEORY FOR PC?

This is something I believe in, but based on no facts other than what I have seen before my very eyes. You buy a computer system. Any type of computer system. You start it up, you use it, and it performs like a bat out of hell (unless you bought a cheap piece of crap and no matter what it will always be a cheap piece of crap). A year down the line, the computer no longer performs like the beast you KNOW it is (or was) so you blame VIrus, Malware and other crap you have installed, so you decide… Continue

Snow Leopard - SEE THERE ARE ISSUES with software, but not we are not all having the same ones!

My MS Messenger works perfectly, yet I have had people TELLING me on here IT DOES NOT! Have a read here and take on board about having an open mind! http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/backstage/comments/problems-with-mac-os-x-10.6-snow-leopard-join-the-sizable-minority/ Continue

Snow Leopard Install - I knew it was too good to be true!

For me, the expectations of what Snow Leopard would provide users who need access to Microsoft Exchange email and calendar functionality is an extreme letdown from what I can work out. First of all, everywhere that Snow Leopard is mentioned, Exchange is touted... but it's only when you dig deeper that you realise that ONLY Exchange 2007 is supported. That's ok for me as I have Small BUsiness Server 2008 installed here, but for most of the clients I have they are on Small Business Server 2003, s… Continue

Sony Ericsson C902 Mobile Phone - Due to upgrade soon.. but to what??

Ok people here's a chance to get your choice of mobile over to me.... I am due to have my 18 month contact with 3 end in the new few months and I'm on a good package at the moment, but the phone I have is pants and I want something new and good, and of course on the same cheap tariff! Should I stay with 3? What phone should I go for? Nothing over £25.00 a month! Continue

Productivity of my IMAC vs my Vista PC System

I purchased an IMAC 24" unit a few months ago as I thought it was time for me to get into them as I could see more of my clients buying these beasties and I have to keep up and ahead of the clients so I can sort things out for them and of course.. make money! From the start (DAN - please stop reading this part unless you put a twig in your mouth and bite hard) I have loved the look and feel of the new mac system. I still do even now, but the one thing I have seen happen very quickly is a comple… Continue

The Upgrade Path of PC & MAC

I am in a fortunate position of working with computers for a living, running my own business, and in general I have access to just about anything I wish access to, but I was reading a number of posts regarding people buying a PC vs the MAC (groan I know) and how you can upgrade your PC whereas you are stuffed if you buy yourself a MAC. I must be in the minority as through the years as my PC's have become old, I do not upgrade them with extra bits, I just go out and buy a whole new range of kit… Continue

ALOT Browser Toolbar

If you find that your web browser works on a main page but you cannot get to any links from the main page, check to see if you have this irritating plug-in installed on your system. Remove it by using ADD/REMOVE programs and you should be back up and running again in no time. The interesting thing here is that all the people who have been in touch with me this last week with the same issue all come out with the same comment... "I don't know how that got there, I did not install anything.. HONES… Continue

Who stole my "M" key?

Just took a delivery of 5 new Dell Laptops the other week, and I was on holiday. I have been sitting here setting them all up for my client, when I open the 4th box and find that the letter "M" is missing from the laptop keyboard! Not only that, there is no sign of it in the secure box, nor inside any packaging, it's been nicked! I mean to say... if it was inside the box I'd think, rough handling, but c'mon, not in the box tells me that someone has stolen the key!!!! Email off to Dell... lets… Continue

IMAC & WEB DESIGN SOFTWARE - PATHETIC JOKE SO FAR!

First of all, I am new to the IMAC after spending all my timeusing PC's. I am still enjoying the new IMAC experience, but intrying to get the IMAC up to a level that will serve me as a work horse, I am fidning that the range of software I am used to using easilty, is not available on the IMAC, or I am just being extremely dense and missing obvious ways of doing things. I am used to using Microsoft Web Expression, and I think it sucks big time in a lot of places, but it performs a simple task tha… Continue

Week Break

Have taken a week off work and taken the time to avoid computers and technology for a while. It's been gdo to just travel, eat, drink, and relax and not have any computer or computer problems around me to deal with! I can already see all of you GEEKS going "WHAT! NO TECHNOLOGY!!!" It's something that a lot of people should take the time out and do....LEAVE TECHNOLOGY!!!! Yes, leave it and go out and do something that requires nothing other than time to do nothing, or do something, but does not… Continue

ITUNES on IMAC and PC - THE SAME YOU WOULD THINK......

Well, I'm sitting here after having a few BUDs and have my Sennheiser headphones on... plugged into the imac... the audio coming through my alcohol dampened brain is incredible! I've now switched across to the PC I have here and am listening to the same tracks in itunes, but, they are different!!!! The PC is MUFFLED! ARGH!!! Either that or I am suffering some sort of audio breakdown due to the BUDS! This cannot be right? Surely they should be near as dam the same???? I've got some Velvet Revol… Continue

Short Term Happiness or is this for Longer?

I won't go over stuff I have already written about on my other blogs, but since buying this new IMAC 24" my interest in computers and technology has came back into life again. I have a spare PC here with the new Windows 7 on it, yet, I cannot be bothered to power it up and play around with it, and my main work machine with Vista is sitting here doing what it does best, the money making and technical support side of my business, while I sit here on the IMAC listening to music, and actually relax… Continue

WWDC 2009 Apple Products

What a weird experience yesterday was! For the first time in over 10 years at least, I have actually had a bit of excitement in the computer sector. I have been working in the IT field for so long that I am jaded in new hardware, new software etc on the PC front, but for some weird reason, ever since I bought this 24" IMAC, the fun and the excitement has come back into the computer field for me. Windows 7 is due for release this year, and its very good, but I am not excited about it. Snow Leop… Continue

IMAC 24” A PC USER VIEW

I have been working with the PC market for over 20 years now, and in that time I have used just about every type of kit out there and also operating systems. Way back in the early days, the look and feel of the first GUI was basic to say the least, but as time has went by, everyone has been making their GUI better and better, and also doing their best to try and have a standard look and feel for everything. This, more than anything else has been the key to Microsoft dominating the computer world… Continue
