My Unbiased Thoughts

Macworld VS CES Keynotes. What follows is a unbiased review of both Keynotes. This is NOT about if Mac's, or PC's are better. It is about the presentations given, and only about that. Let us start with the big disappointments of Macworld and get those out of the way. Rumours spread far and wide that the Mac Mini, a long time hard working machine of Chris, and others for dedicated tasks, would finaly be seeing a MUCH needed upgrade. Alas there was not any mention of the poor Mac Mini, other… Continue

Dear TechSmith

This will serve as a general summary of things I like, and hate about Camtasia Studio 5, and 6. I write this in hopes that it finds its way to them. I shall start by listing everything I dont like. 1: Your auto frame rate capture does not change, it stays at 15fps, or at 21FPS, it does not auto adjust to changing screen conditions rendering it useless. 2: The presave (Dont deny your doing this either.) causes one, to two second pauses in the recordings every 3, to 5 minutes which needless t… Continue

The Run Around With Charter

Lets skip the boring intro and im just going to go right into the transcript of what I did, and what I was told on the phone. Situation: Internet down, Vonage phone works. ISP: Charter. Connection: Surf board modem, Cisco dual ban Linksys router. First I try simply repairing the net, no luck. I unplug the modem and wait a minute and plug it back in, start it back up still no connection. Thus I call Charter. I go through the standard automation, get told I called the wrong number. (They don… Continue

Steps To Change The World

First of all this is just my theory, I dont claim that this is based on fact. It is just my opinion and how i feel the world could be improved greatly. First step: Use all renewable resources for electricity. This is the first major goal as it will lower the cost of power making room for the future steps that I have in mind, without this nothing else is possible. Second step: Integrate computer technology into every home thus leading the way into the next step. Third step: Make the internet… Continue

You miss me?

I guess some folks miss me in chat.. So I will explain why im not on as much.. First of all I have not been feeling good for various reasons, and have thus not been on the computer much. When I am it tends to be places where I do not have to devote much time, and can come and go as I please without worry. Second of all my brain can only stand so much repeating of the same discussion before it turns to mush and I have to take a extended break. In other words, when the chat gets into a debate… Continue

A Cruise To Remember

Well the cruise came and went, was not nearly as good or special this year mainly because of the price of gas. However we still saw a large turn out of foriegn classics come over. Namely a "surf mobile" from Hawaii. A very nice clean car.

How To Choose A Computer

I cant believe I have to make a blog about this, but I have seen way to many people either buying computers WAY more powerful and expencive then they need, or way to under powered for what they need. Keep in mind price SHOULD NOT factor into it, if you must save up for what you need then do so you will be happy then with your purchase. Number 1: What do you plan to use your computer for? If you plan to use your computer for research online in collage, and doing other text related stuff. The… Continue

How Times Have Changed

Sitting here scanning old pictures taken with a 35mm camera, I can not help but say "Wow I can not believe this is how it use to be." When you had no way of retaking a picture, you had to make sure everything was perfect before clicking that shutter, one small misstep and you just lost the chance to take another picture down the road. A finger infront of the lence? No way of knowing tell its to late. Flash is to much? Well you will just have to pray it isnt. I am amazed at how many pictures I… Continue

The Humble Computer

The one thing in your home, you never say thank you to, even thou it has done more then any other device in the world. It never fails to amaze me how people dont respect, and flat out take there pc's for granted. Or they use it for only one thing, like its a tv or a fridge. Look your computer is not a game console, it is not a DVD player, it is NOT a movie editor, it is not a stereo, it isnt any of a hundred things. It is EVERYTHING at once. It is your phone, your mail, it is all that is imp… Continue

The Bottom Line

I never have voiced my opinion in a blog on this subject so im doing it now. "Oh god another OS war.." No I aim to simply inform you why I believe people are going from Windows, to Mac or Linux. Lets face it 99% of us grew up on a Windows computer. We fought it, nurtured it, pampered it, quite frankly we busted our knuckles keeping our respected PC's running. We have been down the road of building, maintaining, and flat out troubleshooting. Old timers are sick of it, they just want a computer… Continue

How I Record The Stream

I get asked this so often I decided I would post EXACTLY how I record streams. I use Camtasia Studio 5, I use a custom FPS rate of 20fps. This gives rather good quality thou not perfect. I then put it in the programs editor to add any effects I need other then titles. Once this is done, I use WMM to add any additional effects required. For audio I use Audacity if I need to make any fades etc.. Then drop that audio into WM, I also use WMM for muting since it has better audio control. After tha… Continue

Techie trouble.

Well I had to deal with a guy who party lined me with ANOTHER tech! Do you know how frustrating it is to be going back and forth with another tech over who is right and who is wrong? It makes a simple problem take twice as long to solve. Its like two cooks in a kitchen, you never can get along. One wants more salt, the other wants more pepper. Some one has to get out! It is even made worse when the problem is something that not even google can solve. Even worse when the other tech's mighty s… Continue

Phanism

I decided to start a phan group (yes its fan, just added PH for fun.) When I started the youtube channel, I was hoping for it to grow where folks would send there own phan videos to post, however it didnt turn out that way. Now with the dawn of this site hopefully my vision can become reality. I encourage those with pictures, videos, and music to post them here. Kind of making a phan library should be interesting and fun to see what you guys do. :) Continue

Things Look Up, World Looks Down

I couldn't believe this site when I fist saw it, finally a MySpace, Facebook...etc option for us GEEKS! Centered around us, and for us! A place where my wish to unite chris fans together can be filled, while my wish to show myself as a separate person can both be done SIDE by SIDE! My hope is that Chris will add the ability for the groups to have pictures, and video uploads from all there members where the creator merely has to moderate what is uploaded. That will make this place ROCK! I also… Continue
