Travel sucks.

So... yesterday I just got to Idaho. The way I got here... very not awesome. First step- Packing. I packed the day before we took off, and I forgot a few things. Camera battery charger, computer charger... Second step- the airport. We go to check in our bags, but at the web check, we found out our flight was cancelled. But no, it was NOT fuvling cancelled... it was diverted, but the less-than-gifted check out lady insisted that the flight was cancelled, even when our new flight was at the same… Continue

Damnit, EA!

I've come to the conclusion that EA is stupid. Why? Because they did not make a version of Spore for the Mac, but sell it as if they did. I just got off the phone with Tech support at EA about an issue I've been having in Spore, where a few minute into the game, spore will exit fullscreen mode, and give me an error message along the lines of "Unhandled Exception raised, would you like to debug?" Then it freezes. He told me that this is a known issue, and EA is trying to figure out what's wrong w… Continue

I Didn't Think This Day Would Come...

My iMac, 3.06 GHz, 4GB of RAM, just had to restart after OS X unexpectedly quit on December 24th, 2008 at 7:44 am. It just happened. I had iChat, Skype, Colloquy, Ventrilo, Mail, Safari DVD Studio Pro, and iMovie open. iChat was idle, Skype was idle, Colloquy (IRC client) was doing its thing, I'm not sure about Vent, Mail was idle, safari was Idle, DVD studio Pro was idle, and iMovie was processing a video I just finished recording. The batteries on my wireless Mighty Mouse are almost out, too.… Continue

Christmas at the zoo

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the zoo, not a sound could be heard not even a coo; the bats were all hung from their branches with care, and all were down sleeping, including the bear; the dolphins slept on the sea floors and sponge beds while visions of mackerel stirred in their heads; a screech from the parrots, a yelp from a pup, the zookeeper went down to see what was up; and above the exhibit of rats and small mice, old Santa Claus stood, fighting back the rat’s lice; he f… Continue

Numerous Projects, and an Update

I tried to enter the big givaway where I could win 4 HP computers, but my entry was not accepted... :( But, today I'm going to do the video coverage for a huge charity event for this organization I work with called the Friendship Circle. Despite the horribly cheesy name, it's a pretty cool program. On Thursdays I go and work with kids with special needs like Down's syndrome or Autism. Today, this big building which is essentially a play structure on the inside (it's sort of a YMCA, but not) is… Continue

Mac vs. PC Persuasive Essay

I apologize, this was for school. Some of these arguments DO NOT REFLECT Shark Jaw Production's opinions. The question has gone on: Mac or PC? Simple answer: Mac. Apple, Inc. makes their Mac computers which run Mac OS X, or Operating System Ten. They also make such products as the iPhone, iPod, Apple TV, and more. PCs are made by several different companies like Lenovo, HP, Dell, but their operating system is made by Microsoft, the company behind the XBox 360, and many other assorted products.… Continue

Squids: Cephalopod or Martian?

I have been watching a show on the Discovery Channel about the Humboldt squid. It is a large squid inhabiting the deeper (down to 1000 feet) waters of the coast of Tierra del Fuego, north to California. The program went far into the habits and history of these creatures, of which little is actually known. While the show lacked in substance, I made up for with common sense. So, I've concluded that Squids are aliens. Allow me to demonstrate the obviousness of the squid-martian theory. The Squid… Continue

Fire!!!

Around my area, there have been fires. LARGE fires. The biggest on has been going on about 10 miles from me. All day, nothing but news coverage about the fires. My soccer game was cancelled today, and I'm glad. The air has been called "Unhealthful" by the National Lung association, and there is ash on all of the cars outside. Over 600 homes have been destroyed, and an estimated 50,000 people have been evacuated. LA and Orange Counties are under an official state of emergency. I'm hoping school w… Continue

Lego Play Station

My Mac Mini design was featured a while back, but now that Apple is going to stop shipping the little thing, I'm going with a cheaper, more fun alternative- an original Play station made of LEGO. I made a preliminary design last night, but I need to sort out some spacing issues, and where I intend to put the optical laser disk spinny thing. Everyone knows the optical laser disk spinny thing is a key component. check out my pictures for a look at the guts of the play station, and for my older des… Continue

Cheese & Sleep

I found this at http://www.britishcheese.com/news.cfm?page_id=240 Apparently, cheese is wonderful for sleep. Of the 200 members that participated in a week-long study by the British Cheese board (in 2005, I stumbled upon this in my random googling) eating cheese before bed can have numerous effects on how you sleep, and what your dreams are like. I had a pretty odd dream a few nights ago, and I mentioned it on the forums at http://www.brickinmotion.com. Someone mentioned that cheese supposedly… Continue

The Suckiness That Is Burma

Ok, we know that Burma is communist, right? Well, Here's a story i heard at Peace jam, the global call to action hippie conference i went to. There was a woman in Burma who fled from her village with her family. She was a few months pregnant. They stayed in a small hut in the jungle. They were hiding fro several months in harsh conditions, trying to avoid the regime that holds power. Eventually, a group of 10 soldiers found the family. Upon finding the woman, the soldiers tied her husband and s… Continue
