My Zero-Gravity Experience (Video)

This is a series of short clips edited together that depict some of my experiences on the Zero-Gravity flight. The still photos at the end were taken by Robert Holland. The Zero-Gravity sequences are a bit chaotic. This is because they are chaotic but also because it's difficult to hold the camera in such a way as to capture video and control where your body is flying. The coaches encourage participants not to take photos and instead focus on the experience. They have severa… Continue

Zero G Song

Yes, I am indeed lip syncing (poorly) throughout. I do this because I record the audio and video separately and then put the two together. It’s one of the many things I’m still working on and learning about AV production. Sing along (you know you wanna): Won the Zero G flight On geeks.pirillo.com Gonna take me a flight on G-Force-One Some people call it the vomit comit, I know I don’t care, still gonna go There’ll be dramamine in this system of mine When I eat my lunch It’s… Continue

Ventura Highway

An excert from an in-progress project. I still have the other guitar parts to record and of course the remaining vocals, but you can hear what I'm up to. Singing all three parts is definitely a challenge. I learned this song 20 minutes prior to making this recording thanks to… Continue

Name That Tune: 01-04-09

Since I enjoy recording excerpts I thought it might be fun to find out if anyone can guess the song correctly from just a short phrase or melody. Listen to this short clip I just recorded and take a guess. Can you name that tune? muckymuckinst.mp3 Guitar: Seagull Artist Mosaic Micro… Continue

Jaxson De Ville catches his head on fire during pregame

My company gave me 4 tickets and a parking pass to yesterday's NFL contest between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans. We're (my family) not really football fans, but we enjoy going to a game once in a while. Here's a summary of the fu… Continue

Word of the Week 10-27-08: Socialism

I'm a few days late with this one due to a World of Warcraft habit that has returned. This word has been bantered about in the media a lot in recent weeks and it occured to me that people may not know what exactly it means.

Word of the Week: Socialism:

Word of the Week: 10-13-08 "Consanguinity"

Word of The Week: Consanguinity

This week's word comes from one of my all time favorite documents, The Declaration of Independence. Here's the passage;

They too have been deaf to the Voice of Justice and Consanguinity. We must therefore acquiesce in the Necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of

The Beer-filled USB Drive

Let’s say that you’ve run out of beer and for some awful reason you can’t go get more. What could possibly taunt you more than a beer filled USB drive? I swear it would not surprise me in the least to see a news bulletin somewhere, where a guy decided to try to suck the beer out of his USB drive. It’d likely start with one guy either daring or offering up some small fund to do it, like a dollar. It really wouldn’t ta… Continue

Quality Squared: A pre-action self test concept

I sit on a committee of sorts at work that was inspired in part by Jim Collins' "Good to Great". We (the group) recently assigned ourselves the task of developing some sort of retrieval cue to incorporate into our emerging culture that will serve as an aid to help visualize our mission and act appropriately. My idea is in a thought draught format and needs some work. I'd love to read comments and hear ideas. What, if anything, does your company culture do? Does your company have an identifiable… Continue

My Mass Effect "preview" from December 2007

Some jerk vandalized my mailbox Sunday night or early yesterday morning. He got a base hit in mailbox baseball. A home run would have rendered the mailbox irreparable. I Guess the batter didn't take his steroids like the other players in the RDL (Redneck Dipshit League). Last time this happened it was shot with a shotgun and did have to be replaced, so I guess banging out a dent, cutting a PT 1X6 to length, and hammering a few nails wasn't so bad.… Continue

The Talosians Are Libs

Liberal Do you remember the classic Star Trek episode "The Menagerie"? In this particular episode Captain Pike found himself imprisoned on Talos IV. Although his captors gave him everything they thought he wanted and needed, he fought them the entire time and eventually escaped. They were puzzled. Why was this huContinue

Rats in a blender.

This is a short video I recorded while chillaxing poolside in Ocala, Florida this summer while on vacation. I was watching Chris's live stream and enjoying an adult beverage (or two or three) My wife, son, and I all appear on camera. My video-camera-shy daughter opted to make audible contributions only. Those that know me, know that I'm not acting any differently in the video than I do any other time, except that I'm perhaps more relaxed here. I'm on vacation! Duh! I kept… Continue

Thomas Hawk / MOMA Parody Song

Originally posted at http://mattb4rd.com/eloi A few weeks ago while doing the web 2.0 thing I read about Thomas Hawk's episode with Simon Blint and security at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Reconnected with a childhood friend via myspace

Originally posted here: http://mattb4rd.com/eloi/?p=62 For some reason (maybe it was when I was watching some Beatles covers on YouTUBE) I recalled a childhood friend of mine that moved away to Texas over 25 years ago. We were inseparable during the 5th and 6th grades and got our asses in trouble for things like;
  • catching my parent's entire front lawn on fire with gasoline
  • my mother catching us dipp
