My Radio Stream

After taking a one year hiatus, we have decided to reincarnate our radio stream. In the past, we had live DJ's playing music, doing requests etc in the evening hours (eastern US time zone). During other hours we just played a music play list. This time around we are going to take a different approach that should be interesting. We will have live programming in the evening hours, DJ's, music, call in talk etc. During other hours, we would like to play a good mix of pod casts from others. Hopefull… Continue

What is Geek Content?

The Internet and specifically this site provides a medium to express our ideas and opinions freely. It is good that Chris has opted to leave the site wide open to about any topic that isn't offensive, pornographic or hateful. That being said, I've come to question what topics I as well as the 15,000+ members really expect to find when we come to this site. I as well as most of you probably learned of this site from either Chris's live feed, chat room, youtube videos or any one of the other place… Continue

Asus Eee PC900HA review

After having an Asus Eee Net book for about a month I have the following thoughts on it. When the net books first came out I thought it would be a cool computer to have around, but found it hard to justify the cost of yet another computer that I didn't really need. Amazing how we geeks have a hard time differentiating need from want. My good friend and fellow Geek member Rick solved that problem by sending me one as a gift. Something that I truly appreciated. The model I have and am reviewing is… Continue

My buddy Rick

My buddy Rick is unknown to most of you and even after reading this he will probably remain that way. So who is Rick? Rick is one of many people that hung out in our radio station chat room. Rick was fascinated with streaming radio but required a bunch of coaxing and prodding to build up his courage to be a DJ. Once he braved his way onto the airwaves we realized we turned a monster radio geek loose on the web. This monster didn't rest until he had three or four broadcast studios in his home. My… Continue

All these Social Networks - Why?

The launch of Geeks.Pirillo.com was an amazing success. It just didn't happen. It was launched by Chris Pirillo. His large presence on the web coupled with the number of people that follow his activities made it happen. Every day I seem to see some new social network being announced here on geeks. The folks at ning.com have made it easy to do. Perhaps too easy. I think most of these so called social networks are a total waste of time for a number of reasons. First, how many social networks can a… Continue

Why did you join this network?

Reading a large number of posts related to the points system and the operation of this network in general I've come to question why people choose to take part in a network such as this. I'm here because I've followed Chris Pirillo for some time because of his involvement in the world of computers and technology. Upon learning of this project I had an instant attraction and signed up. After a couple weeks of participation I can say I like the network with reservations. On the plus side, I find it… Continue

The Great Operating System Debate

My O/S is better than your O/S, nana nana nene ! Go to most any computer related forum, chat room or blog and this debate is sure to show up. So what is the best operating system? The answer is so simple that many seem to not see it. The best operating system is, (Drum roll please) the one that meets your personal requirements the best. If it will do everything you want it to do, it's a great O/S. A casual web browser/emailer type person can get along well with most anything. Someo… Continue
