Lo-fi lullabies (Aka: Here are some of my songs to download.

So, I was sitting around trying to come up with something to do this morning and apparently that means assault all of you guys' ears with my horrible yowling. You know. Yowling. Like cats do. Yoooooowl. Who I am hates who I've been - Cover of the Reliant K song. Not targeted for any reason, other than it's pretty simple/easy to do. I mess up a few times, but all-in-all, it comes out okayish. Sorry if the end is kind of fru… Continue

Lunch Blog: Hot Chocolate Microwave Cake (No, I'm not kidding.)

Okay, today's wikihow was like, really weird and I couldn't help but rush to the kitchen and try it. For those interested, it is WikiHow: How to make a cake in a mug. Really, I'm not sure how much "cake" this is, as it really is more of a "novelty flour and hot chocolate powder mix product." Regardless, it was lots of fun, and only took about 15 minutes from start to service, which w… Continue

Having a Myspace does not make you nerdy, geeky, or even remotely web-savvy.

In fact, the only thing it does is make you a fourteen year old girl. Shut up, no one cares you have a myspace. Love, Amber PS: Fuck facebook too. Continue

I'M BACK! Uh, okay. No. But here's what I've been up to:

Hey there, kids and people. I know, I know. I'm rarely around these days. I've been really busy on my website, which most of you know is http://amberneely.com which is slowly taking off. Its pretty awesome. However, it's been trying as well. I just got kicked out of adsense today, seeing as people kept clicking my ads. Go figure, apparently that isn't what we want. Let the record show that I did not click a single one of my ads or otherwise violate the TOS. I digress. Fuck adsense. I'll just fi… Continue

Video Game Reminiscing: DOS Please!

I don't mean to look so depressed, I was just trying to concentrate on absolutely nothing and trying not to get my hand in the webcam shot. Now, I know all of you have missed me so much, so I'm more than happy to announce that I have some fairly decent internet projects co… Continue

First Wave Litch King Invasion

Not too much to write, other than I got to fight in the first wave of the invasion of scourge on WoW tonight. Here's about 15 minutes or so before the invasion:

Here's about 5 minutes into it.

Lunch Blog: Ham & Turkey wraps

Not too much exciting to write about this one. Its just a simple wrap in a soft flour tortilla shell.

Filling is a piece of ham, a piece of turkey, and a slice of American cheese. Its not folded in at the end 'cause they were kinda cold before I rolled them. I also mixed two parts Dijon… Continue

Lunch Blog: Cheesy Salsa Rice Rolls & Sweet Potato Cakes

Note by the author: I know a lot of people are wondering how into the Asian/Japanese culture I am, seeing as I cook a lot of Asian-fusion dishes. I am by no means a Japanophile. I don't like anime and I don't even pretend to speak Japanese. I guess the food and love of technology is really where my Japanophelia ends. I do, however, have many Japanophile friends. To each their own! I hate nori. I hate the taste, the texture, and even the smell. However, I do enjoy sushi, so its one of th… Continue

Lunch Blog: Ketchup mock-Onigiri (fried) and Polish Sausage

Quick note from the author: I love to cook. More than I like to eat, in fact. From time to time, I plan on posting blogs of things I create. Hope there are other foodies out there who enjoy this sort of thing. Okay! Today is Friday, which means that I've finished most of the housework that I do on the weekdays, and the day is basically mine to do what I want. Most of the week, I spend time cleaning and housekeeping, as well as crafting, any freelance work I have etc etc... But Fridays g… Continue

Aw, crap. I'm getting older.

I should be showering and/or doing laundry right now. Does my slackery know no bounds? So, apparently in 10 days or so, I'll be another year older. Well, actually, its not like I'm instantly gaining a year. Believe it or not, folks, but I actually spent a whole year gathering up minutes and hours, stuffing them under my belt, adding them to life experience and what not. So, I feel like I generally earned the title of "Amber Neely, twenty-two year old nerd extraordinaire. " You are… Continue

Microwave Mishap #2

I'm roughly sixteen years old now, and I'd only used the microwave on days where I was left to fend for myself food-wise, or unless my parents had been in the room. On this faithful day, I was charged with making breakfast. I figured I'd make bagels, eggs, and bacon. I had prepared the oven with the bacon, and I'd whipped up some eggs for omelets. I searched for bagels. None on the counter. I checked the freezer, and cursed my luck. There they were. "MOM," I yelled up the steps to my mother, wh… Continue

Microwave Mishap #1

Quick note from the author: You know, I don't really blog this often, but for some odd reason, now that I know there is a chance of it being read, I thought I'd share this little anecdote with you guys. I hope you enjoy laughing at my pain. I must have been about thirteen when this happened. It was a lovely autumn day in Pennsylvania, and had come home from school, tired and hungry. My mother was not home yet, and she wouldn't be for an hour. I rummaged around in the fridge for something quick… Continue

Nerdcore could rise up, it could get elevated...

You know, I'm really surprised at the amount of profiles on here that are filled out by obvious non-geeks. I mean, I really shouldn't be surprised, but its kind of a slap in the face when you read profiles of people who state that they try not to be geeks. I think I've come across 15 profiles where people say "I am NOT a geek" or "I don't think I am a geek." And I guess, I really wouldn't care, but it seems that these same people are acting like its offensive to be even slightly ge… Continue

My Gamer Blog

Video games. I'd say that nine out of ten people who describe me to people who've never met me tend to drop the phrase "She's into video games." That's who I am. I'm a gamer. It started out when I was three years old, and my parents had acquired an Atari. I was entranced instantly. I already loved TV as a child, and now something that was colorful and interacted with a movement of my hand? That may as well would have been euphoria for me. I still remember playing a lot of Atari as a child, and t… Continue

I hate gamer girls.

I do not call myself a "gamer girl" for a very specific reason. No, it is not for a feministic reason. It is because I do not like to be associated with those who **do** call themselves Gamer Girls (or Girl Gamers. Whichever). I think being a "gamer girl" denotes something very specific. Every female I know who refers to herself as such, only likes the following things: A) Playing an hour of any Final Fantasy game for "street cred." B) Nintendogs C) Playing an hour of Mario for "street cred" D… Continue

Why, hello there!

Hey there, everyone. I just joined up on Geeks today, and I'd have to say I'm very impressed with the community as a whole. Its nice to know that there is a social networking site out there for the more technologically inclined. I'm pretty sick of seeing LOLcats bumper stickers on facebook, and "blingees" pictures on Myspace. (Listen, Myspace. Not every picture can be improved with Photoshop stock brush "glitter." In fact, I'm fairly positive no photos can be improved that way. But I digress.)… Continue
