A busy month ahead

You will notice that I am not posting here as much as I was in the beginning. Much of this is because I am in the middle of moving yet again (this time for good), to our new home we just had built. So this means a lot of unpacking. Despite this, I will be working as per usual and when time allows, creating new YouTube videos to help you budding Linux users out there. But at the end of the day, just be patient. Good things are coming, it jus… Continue

My Gmail Was Clearly Hacked Into

Way to go Google, despite my own good password habits, I have verified beyond a shadow of a doubt that my Gmail account was accessed and email sent from it via POP access. The creeps even had the audacity to add in some sleazy get rich thing from the email signature. Yes, there was crazy evidence presented proving unauthorized access - POP access enabled, signature added to outgoing messages, etc. And here is where Google's bundled account system genuinely drops the ball - AdSense - imagine if… Continue

Moving Yet Again!

As our house build finally comes to a close and "closing" for the purchase is finally being wrapped up, it looks like we will be able to move in here in about a week. This means setting up an appointment for FiOS to be installed (heck yes!!), more packing and unpacking and of course, figuring out my wife's commute to work. Based on how icy the weather can get around here, I am looking at some ways for her to work from home. Nothing se… Continue

Lockergnome, An API Group, And More

Most of you by now might have notice that it seems as if Lockergnome has been misplaced. And truth be told, it certainly does feel this way. While I am not in a position to speak on behalf of Chris on the matter, what I can tell you is this. - Lockergnome is not gone, it is just down for the time being due to back-end CMS challenges. - If you have a blog at Lockergnome, the database is still there, just not accessible. - Geeks is not designed to "replace" Lockergnome, rather provide a place f… Continue

Weather On Your BlackBerry - WeatherBug Direct

As most of us know these days, the weather changes on a moment notice. So as we begin approaching yet another season change, I find having WeatherBug Direct on my BlackBerry to be indispensable as it both saves me time as well as getting caught up in a rain storm. WeatherBug Direct also provides me with some new features t… Continue

Putting And End To Platform Lock-In

One thing I will never miss from my days in the PC repair business was having to explain to a client that their PC was no longer. The matter goes from bad to worse when there are concerns regarding the expense for people on a fixed income. It can be heart breaking when these individuals use their machines for such things as keeping in touch with family and no longer have that ability. I have donated my own time here as there comes a point where you refuse to leave a person in that position hangi… Continue
