Well, this year (starting tomorrow after noon, 20th of Nov) I am going to make a concerted effort (if I make it 48hrs I'll be shocked!) to be disconnected from the internet for 1 week. As I am spending this time down in Key west, Palmetto, and in Orlando Florida.
yes, Thanksgiving for me this year will be Grouper sandwich on the beach. I can't wait!
the week off of the internet will really test my discipline. I don't think I am capable of doing this, but will be proud if I do. I am open for any… Continue
It amazes me in this day and age how people view/percieve others and their ability to be responsble or accountable, or their level of. Being married is an incredible responsibility in of itself. Keeping one going through all of the problems that will arrise in todays world is even more difficult and requires dicipline and flexibility at all times. Throw a child or two into it, and I guess it all doubles, triples??
That part I would not know, for I do not have a child, and at this time in my lif… Continue
I know that somewhere in this story I am likely guilty of the same thing at some point and in some way, but yesterday I had an instance in a grocery store that utterly blew my mind. I had 2 items to check out in the 15 or less line, and 2 people in front to of me. Both were on their cell phones, laughing and joking away with their phone mate on the other side.
What was nausiating about this is that they too had a few items, but since they could not even pay enough respect or attention to the cas… Continue
It has been awhile since I have posted, and my work that pays the bills have ruled most of my time and down time which seems few and far in between these days. Going to see Creed at the Nissan Pavillion out near Vienna Va, last night was just what the doctor ordered. I know nothing… Continue

In the past 2 years I have recognized more and more the difficulties of an online life with accounts that have my credit information. The big thing is memberships, and whenever a card expires (and if you have more than 2, wether bank card or credit it get's cumbersome) or the account has to be changed, because of potential ID theft, or whatever security risk you can think of. The fall out is several weeks of having to back track and run down all of my memberships or monthly related accounts to t… Continue

All day I could not get it out of my head. I wanted this sauce, this hearty soul filling heavenly smelling sauce that fills a room. While not in the traditional method or way, I was going to make this tonight, and my main regret was I did not get to go to a butcher, and a local (farmers) market for my ingredients. I did however get to use my own herbs.
After a little chop chop, of onions, carrots, and celery, as well a few cloves of garlic, it was time to soften them up in the rondue. Some extr… Continue
I love this application. I can see where it could do away with silly USB key fobs, and the like. Sync your data up to 2 gigs for free, and see the other many cool things you can do with it. very flexible and useful.

A new toy I have found out about is Audioboo, kind of an audioblog for lack of a better word. I will soone have it linked to Cookenstein and for sure right here on Geeks. Very cool and easy to use, and Free!!
My apologies as i did this video on my Iphone, trying to hold the phone and scroll around with the mouse. I am not terribly ambidextrose, again, take some motion sickness pills before watching :) Continue
It seems as if the law gives us the middle finger every day. I cannot even begin to count how many times I see a police car ( without flashing lights or sirens on ) driving 10-20-or more miles over the speed limit crossing 2-3 lanes of traffic without signaling, and running red lights and on and on. It is so blatant it is ridiculous.
They are supposed to be the ones setting the standards?? Why would anyone expect anyone to follow the law when they so wistfully flaunt a giant F you at every other… Continue
So after my initial cave in and purchase of the 3gs, I think I had a little bit of buyers remorse. I mean, that my 1st gen Iphone still works fine, you know? But I was ready for some new features, and initially I did not feel I was getting much. Over the past week though, those feelings have changed.
I think the new Iphone is going to get exponentially better in the weeks, months ahead, as developers have the tools now and the hardware to really start using this device for so many things.
For me… Continue
So, I went down to the Annapolis mall late this afternoon and was psyched! Ready to buy an Iphone 3gs. I had heard enough about it, and was ready to upgrade my 1st gen. I was stoked. In 2007, when the 1st gen went on sale, I refrained from day 1, and the long lines in hopes that things would be smoother on day 2. Well they were. in fact they were much smoother. About 11:30 am on a Saturday I believe it was,, I strolled in and out with my new Iphone in less than 15 minutes! Set up of the phone wa… Continue
I don't know that I am an idiot or that I'd discovered something excellent this evening. I just got through with a quick 5 mile run. The thing is, it was on the back end of a heavy rainstorm, which had thankfully totally dissipated all humidity. it was in the low 70's and while still raining at a little to none to sometimes moderate, it felt fantastic.
It feels first of all like, you do not get dehydrated cause, well you pretty much stay wet, and there is a comfortable breeze ( this is of cours… Continue
I find it interesting that so many people feel the need to list the specs of their latest netbook acquisition. I don't know if many of you have noticed but they all pretty much top out at 1.6 ghz, atom procs, with max 2 gig ram, and 160gig hd's.
Beyond this, screens resolutions are almost identical and the remaining add ons are about on par with one another too. Battery life on all of these portables if you ask me is pretty abysmal, and aren't they supposed to be portable on the go items in the… Continue
For several years now I have, as have so many people been more and more pulled in and fascinated by social networks and their blogs. I read and rss many, and of course keep up with some here on Geeks too. I am however really taken in by this one guy whom seems to be killing himself to live. Does the same things again and again, he financially to cripples himself and then talks about how he will fix this, pulls himself back out again, only to repeat the process a few weeks to a month later.
The a… Continue
No matter how many times I do this, public speaking, while a little easier now, than 10 years ago, is always difficult for me. As good as acupuncture is, sleep the night before is very hard to come by, and prepare for it as I might, the day of it becomes a contest to see how many things I can blurt out wrong.
On my latest adventure, technology played a very big role in my presentation, as I was presenting our companies online Calendaring system, and how to collaborate between managers using it,… Continue
I got an excellent email from my father on Friday concerning our ever growing, expanding panic on Global warming. This has been a subject that we are both in agreement on, and I am curious about all of your thoughts..
When a multi-billion dollar international industry (read "global warming") is starting to be ignored by the great unwashed, it's time to repackage the product. Drastic measures are called for, and no need to let facts stand in the way. Read the… Continue
How many friends do you have here that you follow or communicate with on other social mediums ? I can say my social network outside of Geeks has actually grown because of it.
What other social networks do you think are most used by Geeks? Continue
