I was pretty surprised. It went smoothly. It did take almost 4 hours (because of all of the applications and files I have). I'm using the machine right now and it is a lot faster than when I had Vista Ultimate 64 installed. Now only time will tell. The machine I upgraded is an HP e9150t with 12 GB of RAM and 1.5 TB Hard Drive with an I7 Intel Processor
What I mean is that after a person uses a machine for a while they tend to slow down.
I do have all of the tools to tweak and cleanup with. So,…

Today I decided to connect my
new machine to my HiDef Cable TV Box.
A couple of weeks ago I had already swapped the old Standard Definition Box for the HiDef, in preparation for this configuration.
So, anyway I went to RadioShack and purchased a 12 foot S-Video Cable & 12 foot RCA Sound Cables. I connected it up and then saw that it also came with an Infra Red Cable to Help the Remote Control to…

When I took it out of the box the instructions said to flip the battery over and then reinsert it so that the contacts would now touch the connnectors inside of the battery compartment. I did this and then charged it overnight.
I installed PowerChute Personal Edition v2.2 and it gives me an error stating that the battery is disconnected. I must have done something wrong but I have powered down my new PC at least 4 or 5 times and then removed the battery and reinserted it over and over again.
I…

My current Desktop machine is slowly, but surely, being bogged down with all of the applications that I have running on it. It has two hard drives, with one of them being partioned and three external USB Drives.
I use it mostly as a file server for my Photos and Backup Target for my other machines. It is five years old and it is due to be retired. It is constantly losing its Network Connectivity and I have to reboot it. As of lately the PS2 (Mouseport) stopped working and I am also getting many…

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4499 and formatted and installed Windows7 Ulimate 64 Bit (not Beta) and after the installation completed there was one driver missing. I went to Toshiba's Web Site and downloaded the Windows7 Chipset file named "driver_chipset_intel_TC40059100C" and installed it and the driver was still missing. I called Toshiba Support and they directed me to the Intel Web Site after they told me they did not support my upgrade.
I know that my laptop has the Mobile 945 Express…

In the beginning of this past April I ordered two 500 Gb Seagate Laptop Hard Drives from Dell. Dell was the only reputable vendor, that I could find, that had 500 GB 7200 RPM Laptop Hard Drives. The purchase price was $139.99 each. For the past two months I kept on receiving messages from Dell that the manufacturer had them on Back Order.
As I said in the subject they arrived yesterday. I used Hiren's Boot CD and made use of Symantec's Norton Ghost application to create two drive images (one fo…

In the morning of Monday, May 11th, 2009 at 11 AM, my Mother asked my Father to go downstairs to pick up the mail. They live in a Condominium Apartment Complex and it is two flights down to get to the lobby where just outside is where their mailboxes are located. After about ten minutes had passed my Mother was wondering why he was taking so long to come back. She then heard knocking on her door and there was a young neighbor girl. The girl stated that she had found my father on the floor of the…

For about a month now I have been having a problem with installing the latest Adobe Flash on my Vista Ultimate Laptop.
I have done Searches on Adobe's Web Site and Google Searches on the whole Internet. I have downloaded the Adobe Flash Uninstall Tool. I have verified that the Administrator and the System both have had Full Control via the Registry. Nothing ever worked.
I submitted a Trouble Ticket into Adobe Support and I even purchased an application named RegCure because PCTools.com stated…

For years I have been using Power Quest's Drive Image application for my XP and Windows 2000 Professional machines. This application gives you the ability to create a Disk Image Backup and then by using their Browser Tool you can not only Restore a complete machine but also individual files (even to an alternate location).
When Microsoft came out with Vista I was no longer able to Backup using this application.
Last week I was invited by Symantec to a Seminar, that they were giving in Hartford…

If a person is your so called "Friend" do you require that they must agree with you on everything?
My own thoughts on this are that I, personally, prefer that my "Friend" should speak their mind (in fact I require it).
I will admit that I am far from perfect but I have always tried to dance to the beat of a "Different Drummer". I will listen to the opinions of others but I will always reserve the right to decide for myself. If my "Friend" has a completely different outlook on something, that I…

Yesterday I decided that I had wanted to view a Power Point Presentation on my new Windows 7 machine and had to first install some version of Microsoft Office into the machine to get to where I could do this on the PC.
I first tried to install MS Office 2003 Professional and it failed. I figured that the reason for this was because it was a new OS and the application that I was trying to install was 6 years old. So, I then attempted to install MS Office 2007 Enterprise Suite and it failed with…

It all started on Friday when I first tried to download the ISO image from the Microsoft Partner Site. Let me start off saying that I received an Email from Microsoft last week that stated that the download would be made available on 1/9/2009 at 12 PM PST. I was there at the Ready at 3 PM EST and all of the download icons were grayed out.
I first went into the MS Partner's Forums and saw that I was not the only person that was experiencing the same issue. Someone at the Forum provided the direc…

LOL. A person just joined our Geeks Site and he started a
Discussion about the problem that he was having with Adobe 8. He stated that he couldn't open PDF files and I suggested that he uninstall the application and then download and install the newer Adobe Reader 9.
He tried, unsuccessfully, to uninstall Adobe Reader and then he put a message on my page, thanking me for my input and asking me if I had any other suggestio…

What would I do with a $500.00 Gift Package? Hmmmm, let me think about that.
Well, my sister just had a mastectomy and she has 2 adult children and one teen. I think that I would try to make sure that her teenager had a very nice Christmas. My sister raised her 3 kids on her own. It was very difficult for her and I have offered her moral support but I am not a rich person so financial support, from me, just isn't feasible. The Family Game Night would be a Great Gift for her.
If i could make he…

I became a Member of this Geeks Site in the beginning. I thought that it would be a wonderful Idea for us to have a nice Social Network where we could feed off of each other and share ideas and make suggestions, and maybe even assist those that wanted to join our ranks.
I have found, on more than one occasion, someone joining just to ask a question and then never hearing from them again. This bothers me a little, especially when they don't even so much as say thank you.
One guy in particular w…

The Laptop has XP Entertainment Center OS installed and just keeps freezing about 5 minutes after rebooting. I recently installed Quickbooks 2004 (and all of the updates). I also installed the PowerQuest Drive Image application so that I can get an image of his drive onto an External Drive. I did all of this about 2 weeks ago
He said that ever since I installed all of those things that his machine has been having issues (of course).
Anyway, I went into the Event Viewer (Barely) and saw that th…

The night before last a new friend sent me a Word document that I downloaded and then attempted to open, by double clicking on the file. I have Vista Ultimate and MS Office 2007 installed on my Laptop. Word opened up but never displayed the document. I tried this a couple of times to no avail. Also, when I would close the blank MS Word Application I would get an error and MS Word would restart. I finally gave up and copied the file across my Network to an XP Entertainment Center PC that I have i…

What I mean is that I am constantly refreshing the Home Page Screen and My Personal Page to see if there is a new Discussion or if someone sent me a message. For the past 5 minutes or so I have refreshed both of these pages a few times and the picture wheel has been stalling on me. It says that there are 30 people signed on and it counts to 29 and then just stops and the "Who Is Online Now" pictures do not display. This is the 2nd or 3rd time this evening that this has occurred.
Earlier today,…

I received the gift that I bought myself from
Crucial.com when I got home today. It was sitting in my Mail Box.
When I ran their scanning tool and then placed my order a warning popped up stating that a 32 Bit Windows OS would only register 3584 MB or maybe even less. I ordered it anyway and then installed it as soon as I went into the house.
I checked the BIOS Setup and it did recognize 4096 MB and then I booted up my Vista Ultimate Laptop and it also reco…

A friend, Brian, called a few weeks ago and invited me, and quite a few others, to a get together that will be starting at his home. After a few hours of hanging out we will then adjourn to a local Irish Pub. It is always a good time had by all when spending time with this group of people. I think I may even bring my Digital Camera with me.
One of the guys (Eddie), that is part of this group, is an alumnus of the same High School that I went to (Power Memorial Academy). I am also a member of th…
