Let me go on the record and say that I love Windows 7. I have been beta testing it since March, and it's very good, better than Vista. With that said, it wouldn't take a lot to push out a better OS than Vista. I got a tweet from @Travicemo on twitte…

Well, I went to a concert yesterday (5/30/09), and that's why I didn't blog yesterday. That, and I decided to try streaming, somewhat to what Chris does. This started formulating in my brain a little while ago, but I decided to get some noterierty around geeks.pirillo.com and twitter (@matthewmedina25). Once I got that accomplished, I decided to get manycam to broadcast pictures, my desktop, etc. On 5/29/09, I streamed a picture of my router from 12 AM-2:30AM. I really wanted to talk about netwo…

The only reason I pose this question is SSD's are an emerging technology, and I belive they will be standard in about 5-10 years. For those of you that don't know what a SSD is, I will tell you. SSD stands for Solid State Disk. Solid state means that there are no moving parts, like in a tradtional HDD. This means that files don't fragment the HDD. Fragging/Defragging is sort of difficult to explain, so I'll put it this way. Think of your HDD as a dictonary, and when you save a file to the HDD, i…

If you read my 2nd blog (http://matthewmedina25.bravejournal.com/entry/32736), then you know that my sister is getting a laptop, and we got a wireless G router to connect it to the internet. My mom wasn't going to let me setup the router until June 27th (when my sister gets the laptop), then she changed it to June 24th, when my aunt and cousin come with their laptops for a visit. While I was rambaling about protocols and the range of the router, I convinced her to let me set it up today. Well, I…

Well, I had nothing to blog about today, so I tweeted for help (@matthewmedina25). @Joezef recommended ACTA. After reading about it for a few minutes, I have come to a conclusion that I will tell you after giving you some history in this blog. In October 2007, the US, EC, Switzerland, and Japan met to try to set up international copyright laws. It was a secret meeting until it was leaked onto Wikileaks in May 2008. It was belived the meetings would conclued at the end of that year, but the EC st…

Today, California had to meeting to determine whether Prop. 8 is constitutional. They upheld Prop. 8, which denies same-sex couple the right to marry. Personally, I feel this is a bunch of bullshit. “Marriage is between a man and a women, Matthew, it says so in the Bible.”, my friend told me. Well, the Bible also says to “love they neighbor as thyself” and “Do unto others as you would want done unto you.” Also “separation of church and state.” Do not mention any religion in political matters any…

I know this a little late, but I just want to offer my opinion on this little matter. Circuit City is back, and I feel it is great, though I still laugh at them for going bankrupt. They went bankrupt for refusing to lower prices, and even during their “blowout” sales, prices didn't change much. With that part of my rant done, I will now talk about the future of Circuit City as I have heard from people on the internet. Circuit City was bought by Systemax, Inc., a company that was founded in 1995,…

Yesterday, 5/24/09, was possibly my best day of 2009 yet. As it's may, the school year is winding down, with about a few weeks left until school is over. My older sister is graduating high school, and going to Shippensburg University with an undeclared major. If you are a follower of mine on twitter (@matthewmedina25) you more than likely read that I was going to Target to get my brother an SD card for his camera. We got that, and after waiting an hour for some photo's to develop, my mom asked m…

From the title of this blog, your probably thinking, “OH MY F***ING GOD!!! THIS GUYS ABOUT TO THROW SOME DEEP SH*T ABOUT RELIGION OR BE ALL DEPRESSING!”. Well, this is going to be sort of a hybrid. To be honest, March-April was very depressing for me. My girlfriend broke up with me in the middle of March, I sprained my ankle, toe, I was struggling in some classes I expected to do well in, and I was sick most of the time. To be honest again, I was a real grumpy garrison(got that one from my mom).…

Pipi's parents nearly had to dig deep
A New Zealand couple nearly found themselves in a financial hole when their three-year-old daughter bought an earthdigger in an internet auction.
The child, Pipi Quinlan, was trying out her online skills while her pa…

I've had the idea to blog daily or weekly here on Geeks, since I enjoy it here so much. It will be me talking about what happened in school, church, with friends, basically whatever I feel like talking or ranting about. The topics will range from tech news/events to my views on political issues.
With that intro out of the way, let me start this blog.
Today, as I do on most Thursday's, I went to school. Little did I know that I would be having an intense argument during my fourth period class…

First off, I want to say HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all you moms and moms-to-be. I helped my mom in the garden with my friend Cale, who brought over his laptop. We then decided to get on it b/c i told him of dual monitors and he wanted to try it out. Well, needless to say, his laptop was slow as heck.
Here are some specs:
Pentium M 1.6 GHz
512 MB RAM
50 GB HDD
XP media center edition sp2
He told me it has been slow for a while. He proceeded to play on my desktop with Windows 7 while i went to fix…

Think about it. So many people that claim to be a "geek" have only used Windows or Mac OS or Possibly Linux. In my case, I have used Windows (95, 98, 2000, XP, and soon Vista) and Ubuntu (8.10). Grant it, I am only using Ubuntu 8.10 because XP crashed, but I was open to trying it before Xp crashed. I ordered a live CD of Ubuntu about 2 months before my fiasco with registry errors, and LOVE IT. Now, thats not saying I am making it my primary OS, but i will put it in a virtual machine when my new…

As I write this, the Penn State-Ohio State game plays with about 2 minutes left to halftime. Now, as it is so close to election day, aren't you RELIVED that its almost over? In 10 days there will be no more attack ads from McCain or Obama, no more polls, no more rallies. Doesn't it feel weird knowing that after TWO (2) years all of it will just stop, and Bush will almost be out of office? Personally, i will miss it. I love hearing the rallies, the debates, the attack ads. It reminds me that i am…
