Fedora 11

Right now I am playing with Fedora 11. It is defiantly not a beginner distro like Ubuntu. and there is a lot more configuration involved. But so for I am have fun with it and I hope I get everything smoothed out real soon. Continue

+1 for Ubuntu Wireless

That's right, I have a positive comment on Ubuntu Wireless. I just move last week and previously I connected to the internet via a wired connection to the router. At my new place the router is in my room-mates room so I have to use a wireless connection, except for the fact that I do not have a wireless card in my desktop computer. After unpacking I discovered that I had a old Linksys Compact USB wireless adapter. I have heard that it is very difficult to get working in Ubuntu, plus it being a 4… Continue

Laptop Problems - Need Help!

Last night I was using my laptop, its a Compaq Presario and it pretty new. The laptop was plugged in to that wall like it always is. Everything was working perfect as it always does and then then it just shut off. Strange as the battery was fully charged and the laptop was plugged in. I tried to turn it on but before Windows would load it would shut off. Finally it took me to a menu where I was pretty much had to revert back to the last restore point for it to boot windows. No big deal, did it,… Continue

Geek Update!

I am still here and still a geek. I have been getting really into playing with Ubuntu. Since my laptop has Windows Vista and my Desktop has Ubuntu. I got Samba up and running on my Ubuntu box so I can transfer files back and forth which is very handy. I am starting to become a twitterholic for better use of words, lol. I installed Adobe Air and Tweet Deck under Linux. I am working on creating a quick how to guide for people new to linux, I hope to have that completed this week or tonight, not su… Continue

LOL Rent a Center

Last summer I had a laptop thru Rent a Center and when I gave the Laptop back I had wiped it and was running a Linux distro on it. The other day they called me trying to get me into a new laptop. I was talking to the guy on the phone and I mentioned how last time I put Linux on it. He remember because they had to send it out to get windows back on it and they were charged $300 for having to replace the motherboard because I had Linux on it. Of corse I asked why in the hell would they need to rep… Continue

Windows 7 RC Oh Yeah!

I figured I would see what all the fuss is about with the Windows 7 RC. I did a clean install that went as expected. Now I don't have a "up-to-date" system. AMD Athlon64 3500+ with 1.5 gigs of RAM and a GeForce GS 6800. I have ran vista before on my system and it always very sluggish. Well I now sit here on Windows 7 RC and its the complete opposite of vista. The system is a lot faster over by a lot. PCWorld mentioned in an article that from there benchmark of Windows 7 RC, its a little faster t… Continue

I Ubuntu!!

I have been running the new Ubuntu release: 9.04 "Jaunty Jackalop" since its final release pretty much. I ended up just formating my drive and it the only OS I current run at the moment. With all the talk of Windows 7 going on I am pretty much sold on Ubuntu at the moment. The install went quick. The boot time is a lot faster. Nvidia drivers installed without a problem. The only drawback to it, is that I can't sync my iphone in Ubuntu. I know I will eventually have to add a Windows partition and… Continue

The Gparted

Last night was sure a long night for me. I had been playing with Sabayon 4.1 Gnome Edition, and decide to install it on my computer. I tried to use the Vista Disk Management program to shrink Vista down so I can have a partition for Sabayon. The tool would not let me do it even though I had plenty of free space. I then decide to use Gparted from the Sabayon live disk and do it that way. After 4 hours of it doing it's thing, Vista was shrunk down into a partition and then I had a new partiton tha… Continue
