I know it's been awhile since I've actively participated here at Geeks... there are several reasons.
"Life Happens"
I've recently been privileged to receive a free "review copy" of Wirecast.
http://www.telestream.net/wire-cast/overview.htm
I use Wirecast for my weekly shows. I'm still learning.
I have created hundreds of YouTube videos, and gathered a pretty loyal, and small, following.
I've re-established conta…

I've been pretty busy & distracted over recent months.
I am having a live Windows 7 Launch Party on uStream, Oct 22.
I got a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate "signature Edition!"
I got a review copy of Wirecast, thanks to my new friends over at Telestream.
I'm starting to learn how to handle Wirecast on my PC... I have a few problems... but I'll get there.
I decided my 24" iMac needed repairs.
I have AppleCare.
An on-site Technician came to my apartment, and replaced the Logic Board an…

I watched my good friend, "G" on Granny's Gone Geek tonight.
We helped G install her new Apple Time Capsule.
I talked to a few people in the chat room. They helped persuade me to start doing live shows again.
I need some time to take care of stuff the first week of September.
I will do my first regular show at the usual time on Thursday at 8 PM.
The regular schedule will be as follows:
Thursday at 8 PM EST
Saturday at 3 PM EST
I will also look for people who are interested in doing shows…

I watched my good friends at Compute-Ability today... I was inspired to upgrade the Power Supplies (PSU's) of both my PC's. And I did it for free!!!
I had 2 modular PSU's that were lying around.
I thought one was dead... but it's just fine.
The other has a massive main power cable that kept me from installing a DVD drive into the smaller Microfly case.
I wanted the PSU with the larger cable because it's "UV." I can see the glow through the clear computer case.
I decided I didn't need the DV…

My site has mainly been a "Vlog," showing all my YouTube videos.
The videos are only a small part of my "total package."
I wanted to show my artwork, and many of the thousands of family slides my Dad and I have been scanning.
I couldn't figure out the best way to handle the transition from WordPress Vlog back to a full site again.
Then a few things happened to help me find the way.
I rediscovered playlists at YouTube.
You can create a playlist of videos, then post the list itself to your w…

Hey everyone, how are you?!
I'm finally making some progress with my computer pursuits.
I've put my quad-core Beast PC into service handling my uStream shows, and many videos.
I use Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 and my Behringer's Podcast Studio.
I have a cable running from the speaker connection of the Beast PC into the USB mixer.
I will buy a new microphone stand and pop filter next month.
Then I plan to spend some time learning how best to do audio mixing work, etc.

Today I sat down and did some thinking. Sometimes thinking does me good.
I realized I had an adapter that went from a smaill headphone jack to a 1/4" jack.
That is just what I needed to plug the sound from one computer into my USB mixing board.
Now I can play music so that people can hear it easily online.
I don't need to use a microphone to catch the music coming from my speakers!
There was just one catch.
My old Microfly motherboard was indeed not capable of handling the sound.
I decide…

Did I tell you my Dad sent me a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000?!
The "9000" is an absolutely wonderful web camera. It's well worth the $90 price.
I've decided to start doing more videos and live web casts with my Beast PC and the new Logitech 9000 web camera.
That decision involved rearranging my entire "home office" (living room?!) at least once.
I've since moved the Beast PC over to the large computer desk.
The beloved iMac is now on the smaller computer desk alongside the windows.
Now I run…

I tried Google Chrome browser quite awhile ago...
I instantly hated it, and uninstalled it.
I've been using Firefox on my Mac & Pcs for years now.
I recently downloaded Firefox 3.5.. Now I'm totally upset with Firefox.
Firefox keeps freezing on me.
I notice it mostly when I do a Google Search.
I bring up the list of relevant items, and click on a link... Firefox freezes dead in its tracks.
I quit the browser, and run it again.
Firefox says "this is embarrassing," and sometimes recove…

When I had my recent Macintosh misadventure, I determined once again to banish Windows from my beloved iMac.
I'm not entirely sure why my iMac's web camera suddenly died, nor what made it come back to life.
But I remembered my original intention to keep my Macintosh "pure."
I removed VMWare Fusion & Windows RC1, etc. I rarely remembered to use the Virtual Machines anyway.
The Mac & PCs will not share centralized data storage.
The PCs will use the Windows Home Server. The Mac will us…

The apparent death of my Macintosh’s web camera has set me to thinking again.
It is time to simplify my computer life.
I will concentrate on the Macintosh for awhile.
That includes getting the Macintosh back to full working order first.
Then I will add 2 new 1 TB hard drives. One will be for my projects. The other will be for backups.
I will buy a new External Firewire case that will have RAID 1 for automatic backup of my data.
My Windows Home Server project will be placed on hold.
I will…

I've grown tired of all the mass postings by people who've entered various contests, etc.
I know some people or organizations have requested that people make multiple posts in order to qualify for winning a prize.
I don't have the time or patience to look at all those multiple posts.
They're almost as bad as the posts where someone tells us what they had to eat for lunch, or when they had a "bodily function."
These multiple posts are another thing that have been known to overburden Twitter a…

I recently obtained the following book:
Windows Home Server: Protect and Simplify Your Digital Life, by Rick Hamilton.
I skimmed through the book because I've already been working with Windows Home Server for a few weeks.
From what I saw, this book is an excellent choice for someone who's thinking of installing Windows Home Server, or someone who's just begun.
The book covers many aspects of using Windows Home Server. That includes the considerations and strategy that you might want to adopt…

I've recently preordered 2 copies of Windows 7. They won't arrive till after October 22.
I've been running Windows 7 RC1 on an old socket-939 computer (The Microfly computer).
That computer is only used for "multimedia." That mainly consists of watching my Hulu shows & Netflix online videos.
The monitor is a 22" LCD TV, in VGA mode. I'm not entirely satisfied with the resolution.
I finally decided to install Windows 7 RC1 on my quad-core Beast PC.
I had hesitated to make the change beca…

I just couldn't resist the $49.99 pre-order price for Windows 7 Home Premium.
Here's
the link I used.
I noticed that you have the following delivery choices:
1.) Download Windows 7
2.) Download with a DVD backup
3.) Have the item shipped
I don't recall the prices for each option. I believe the backup disk adds to the price of the download.
I ordered a download... Then I we…

I was recently assaulted by my YouTube Stalker again. To be accurate, perhaps the attacks never cease.
The YouTube Stalker has been operating for several months, under a multitude of aliases. He changes aliases whenever I block one.
The YouTube Stalker has an interesting story to tell.
According to the YouTube Stalker, I deleted "innocent comments" to some of my YouTube videos.
I offended the YouTube Stalker by deleting those comments.
I forced the Stalker to take harsh action against me.…

I recently heard from a couple women I knew as a Senior in High School.
This online connection sparked a lot of speculation and desire on my part.
In the end, nothing "concrete" came from the communications.
I will not meet either of the women again.
I will not start any romance.
I finally came to that realization over the weekend.
I bought a 12-pack of beer, and a bag of Doritos.
I feel a bit better now.
It's time to stop looking to The Past for my Future Romances.
