Pokemon Rumble

I always did like the Pokemon games for the GameBoy and the Nintendo DS, but I had not played any Pokemon games in a while since I sort of grown away from it. However, earlier last week I kept hearing about a WiiWare game called Pokemon Rumble, so I decided to get the game and try it out. I immediately got addicted to that game because, for some reason, it is a really fun game. Basically, you start out with a Pokemon and you go to all of these different zones and defeat Pokemon there and possibl… Continue

bt.gd

There are many URL shorteners out there such as bit.ly and tr.im. However, Jeff from BestTechie has just recently come out with his own URL shortening service called bt.gd. It is the same basic concept as any other URL shortening service, but since it is brand new, it has shorter links. Yes, this won’t last forever, but it is still a great service to use. It is still in the early stages of development but it still works good. There is a Mac… Continue

ScreenGrab

I have used a few programs in the past that automatically upload screenshots to your website, but I think ScreenGrab, so far, is the best. ScreenGrab is a free piece of software developed my someone named Mikey that I know on the Wyldryde IRC Network. The application, for Mac OS X (Windows and Linux versions are made by a different developer), uploads screenshots automatically to your website. All you have to do is install the software, put in some FTP and set some options as you like it. You ca… Continue

Google Apps

For all of my domains, instead of setting up a mail server on all of my servers, I use Google Apps instead. Google apps is like having your own Google account, except for your domain. The main feature I use is Email, but there is also Docs, Chat, Mobile, and much more. It is very easy to setup, more so than setting up a mail server of your own, because all you have to do is put in a few MX records. There are a few versions of Google Apps, one is free and the other isn’t. I use the free version b… Continue

The Ugly Truth

I am not that big on doing movie reviews because I don’t really write good reviews on them. However, I just got done watching The Ugly Truth, starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler, and it was really good. First off, it is definitely not a family movie, so don’t show it to young kids. It is about a movie producer named Abby who is getting low ratings until she gets a new host named Mike to host the show, The Ugly Truth. I don’t want to ruin the entire story, but if you like comedy movies, an… Continue

CentOS

For the past 2 years or so, I have been lucky enough to manage my own servers. Throughout this time, I have been able to use quite a variety of operating system’s including Debian (my favorite), Ubuntu, Gentoo, Red Had, FreeBSD and CentOS. Now, CentOS is the very first OS that I ran as a server, and I have to admit, It is not all that great to use like Debian is. However, I can tell you that it is the most secure and stable operating system I have used. Where it may sometimes be a big pain, It h… Continue

Transformers

About two years ago, the first Transformers movie came out starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. I never was a fan of the cartoon series, so I never did plan on seeing it. However, two things happened that made me go see it. One, all my friends said it was awesome and two, well… Megan Fox is pretty good looking. So I saw it and I was blown away at how good it was. The story line was great, the acting was great and especially the CGI was great. They really put a lot of work for the effects in this… Continue

iTunes 9

Since I am short on time, this will be a post on my thoughts on the latest version of iTunes. At first, I wasn’t to fond of the new iTunes Store look, but after I started to adjust to it, things got better. The nice UI is definitely a win when it comes to iTunes. The iTunes DJ, in my opinion, is pretty good….. if your a DJ. The home sharing feature is excellent, especially since I got my MacBook. I can transfer everything I have on iTunes via this feature and it has saved me a LOT of time. As I… Continue

MacBook

Coming up on two weeks ago, my Windows laptop died and I decided to purchase a MacBook. Since then, I no longer have any Window’s computers in my house. I have been using a Mac as my primary OS since June of 2008 and have loved it. This is the second Mac I have every owned and it runs better than any other laptop I have ever owned. The laptop is fast, reliable, and actually works for me. Now, as some of you may know, a few days ago Apple introduced the new MacBook. Since I bought the MacBook at… Continue

TwitterFeed

If you have a website that you would like to automatically update your Twitter every time you make a blog post, then TwitterFeed is for you. This is basically a free service that allows you to plug in your Twitter (and Facebook) account in and asks for some RSS Feed information from your site. You can make it so that the TwitterFeed bot checks your RSS feed every so often. You can also tell TwitterFeed what format you want your tweet to be along with what URL shortening service you would like to… Continue

iGlowStick

Today, i am going to be talking about a very simple app that is not very useful, but is one of those little holiday type apps. Halloween is coming up in a few weeks and we all know the theme of that day. Well, some of you might know that they sell those glow sticks that you crack and then shake to make the light illuminate. Instead of getting packs of those at the store, why not get it for free? There is a free app in the App Store called iGlowStick which is a simple app where you can choose wha… Continue

Geeky Tutorials

About a week or 2 ago, I opened a new site called Geeky Tutorials. Just like the name says, it is a site that has tutorials about geeky like things. So far we have under 12 posts, and it is just me and my friend John writing for it now. We have an average of 30 unique visitors per day, which isn’t terrible for a site that just opened. As of now, I have written tutorials on mostly Linux stuff and my friend, John, wrote a tutorial on batch. Anyone can become an author, as long as you have knowledg… Continue

Barbecue

There is this cool new iPhone app available in the App Store for $0.99 called Barbecue. It is a very realistic app of a Barbecue grill. In this app you basically do a simulation of barbecuing things like steaks, hot dogs, ribs, turkey skewers, and corn on the cob. After you are done grilling you can put it on a plate and it will be as if you are serving a plate of food at a picnic table. You can then share what you made via Twitter or Facebook. This is a really neat app that can really kill time… Continue

iPhone MMS

Last Friday, MMS for the iPhone was finally turned on for AT&T customers who have been anxiously waiting. If you don’t know what MMS is, it stands for Multimedia Messaging Service and it is the ability to send text messages with pictures, videos, and audio files. Yes, most of you who have other phones are probably wondering what the big deal is about that because most phones already have that ability. Well, for some stupid reason, AT&T wouldn’t let the iPhone have the ability to send MMS… Continue

Atomic Fart

I have no idea why I am even doing a review on this app, but here goes nothing. There is an app in the App Store called Atomic Fart, and it is something a typical guy might find funny. It is basically a whole bunch of different fart noises that each have a specific name. In my opinion, this app is good for playing a prank on someone or if you need to cheer up from something bad that happened. There are 2 different versions of this app, one ad-supported and one non-ad-supported. So basically, one… Continue

Carbonite Online Backup

I have been keeping up with Leo Laporte since the TechTV days. Now that he has his own internet network, I have been watching his shows on the TWiT Network. He advertises this great backup service called Carbonite. This services is a fast and secure way to back up your files. You are able to backup any amount of data that you want. The best thing about backing up with Carbonite is that you get a great deal and all of your files are sent to “the cloud” on an SSL Secure connection, which is tested… Continue

AppBox Pro

The other day, I finally hit the 100 apps marker on my iPhone. I have a bunch of different apps including a Battery Life app, System Info, Unit Converters, etc. Well, why download all of those apps when you can get those and a bunch more all in one! AppBox Pro is an app for $0.99 in the App Store. Basically, it is a suite of all kinds of apps. As you can see in the picture below, they have all kinds of different apps. I am not going to explain each one, but I will go over a few. Battery Life sho… Continue

Ocarina

If you like music in general, whether it be playing music or just listening, then you will most likely enjoy this app. Ocarina is an app where basically all you do is play music. As you can see in the picture below, there are 4 glowing dots, which are like the keys on a trumpet, and depending on what key combination you put in, the sound comes out differently. All you do to make a sound come out is blow into the microphone on the bottom right of the iPhone. If you just google “Ocarina iPhone App… Continue

Snow Leopard

2 weeks ago today, the latest release of Mac OS X, 10.6 (Snow Leopard), was released. I was one of the many "Apple fanatics" who went out and bought it the day it came out. Since I have installed Snow Leopard, I have absolutely loved it. I have noticed a bunch of minor bug fixes and a major performance boost. The one noticeable thing is the speed of everything. One of my personal favorite updates would be that Finder has been re-written in Cocoa and it is really great. The new Quicktime X is rea… Continue

Camera Genius

All iPhones have a built in Camera and app to use it, but there are some features the default app doesn’t have. However there is an app called Camera Genius that has some great features the default Camera app does not have. It is available for 99 cents in the App Store. One of the main features is the ability to zoom in and out on an object. There is also a feature where whenever you say something or make a sound, it takes the picture. Another useful features, especially for me, is “Anti-Shake”.… Continue
