dave Protect your PC with a hard-drive password

Protect your PC with a hard-drive password A user-account password is important for security, but it's useless if your PC is lost or stolen; a thief could just install your hard drive in another PC instead of trying to boot it up under your name. To block access, add a password to the hard disk. This process is simpler than encrypting the hard disk, but it can't match encryption's level of security. (Encryption scrambles data so that even if a thief gains access, he probably can't make sense o… Continue

Adam AllSecure

Once again, I am reviewing some cool software for the Mac that I have recently gotten. This application is called AllSecure. The basic idea of it is that you can add certain things you use a password for, such as a website or router. You can even add a bank account, credit card number, safe deposit box number and a few more. The cool thing is that the application is password protected and when you put in your info for the website, router bank account, etc., it encrypts the pass code for it. So i… Continue

usr_local Pros and cons of OpenID

At this point, the news is so good. A study was performed by Yahoo and the nine users who considered themselves to be moderately Internet savvy; was confused. They did not understand multiple ways to log in. Confused by the fact that there is no place for a password. The Pros, it is convenient not to have to give your life history to log in to a website. You don't have to create a new user name and password. There is no need for email verification. Personally, I can't speak to the usability of… Continue
