PC’s that run Microsoft windows are the majority of what the world uses. For the most part most home users and most businesses use PC’s running Microsoft Windows. Though some places and some people use Mac’s. Why is this? Is it style choice? Are Mac’s easier to use?

Like many geeks, I seek change quiet often when it comes to technology, it keeps myself interested and entertained. So when I saw that the latest issue of linux magazine at my local newsagent I jumped for joy and grabbed it. I have read it front to back and back to front. I didn't learn much, it was mostly programming and I have not done enough to understand what they were going on about. But anyway, I took a look at the distro disk and I decided to give Linux a shot, again. But this time it is… Continue

Google came out and showed what they have of Chrome OS so far. It boots in 7 sec’s, its secure, and from the moment you hit the power button you are online. I have herd people that think that Chrome OS could be a Windows killer. The video that Google made to explain it is below.

So, I just saw this little intro video Google has about it's new Chrome OS. What caught my attention was what was said towards the end of the video. Chrome OS is basically designed to be a "stateless" OS. This basically means that the OS will not exist "on your computer" , but rather, be loaded on boot from a remote location.
Now, this isn't a new idea. As a matter of fact, it has been around for years. Citrix has been doing it, even Mac OS X has this ability. Basically you set up a server and… Continue
So, I watched the Chrome OS conference video that Google put up yesterday and I've been reading a lot of peoples responses. But, before I jump into that, I'd like to write about my own thoughts about the OS.
When Google Chrome, the browser, was released I wasn't too impressed. I enjoyed using Firefox and having tried Chrome I decided to stick with Firefox. Nowadays I use Google Chrome mainly because of the look and feel of it, but also because of the speed. I think that the thing about Google C… Continue
I have used a few programs in the past that automatically upload screenshots to your website, but I think ScreenGrab, so far, is the best. ScreenGrab is a free piece of software developed my someone named Mikey that I know on the Wyldryde IRC Network. The application, for Mac OS X (Windows and Linux versions are made by a different developer), uploads screenshots automatically to your website. All you have to do is install the software, put in some FTP and set some options as you like it. You ca… Continue

I've been a long time Ubuntu and Linux user. Don't get me wrong, I try to use as many different operating systems as often as I can, but primarily on my machines, I've been using Ubuntu or some variant of Ubuntu for around 4 years now.
People ask me, why use Linux? I tell them, it's fun. To me, using Linux is somewhat of an ongoing never ending project to make your computer work best. And whats different of that rather than in Windows or Mac is that on Linux the job is on your shoulders to do s… Continue
If you haven't noticed, a LOT of people use hackintoshes, or are interested in it.
If you talk in #chris on GeekShed, you are well aware of the hackintosh scene, "what is eula" may possibly be on the of the most used commands other than "!rules" and "what is spam",
In fact, I have a hackintosh laptop myself. I have a Dell XPS M140 that is currently running Mac OS Leopard 10.5.8, And I love it!
In a recent dev build of Snow Leopard, people found out that apple removed support for the Intel Atom P… Continue

As you might know your mac will slow down over time. It does not matter what you do with your mac as long as it is on it will slow down over time. Now don't get scared because it is nothing drastic like windows when you would have to reinstall the OS and you won't have to reinstall OS X either. The thing that happens is overtime files left over from unused programs and caches that never got cleaned pile up on your hard drive. This not only takes up valuable space, but it slows down your overall… Continue

In this quick tip I show you how to make your mac talk to you. Most people don't know this because it is a bit hidden, but you can make your mac announce the time to you. You can set it to announce it on the hour, every 30 minutes, or every 15 minutes. You can also select the specific voice that you want it to use. As you probably could expect the voices don't sound realistic, but it is still a good way to keep track of your time.

What is happening on Oct. 22, 2009?
Well if the title doesn’t answer it then I don’t know what to tell you, it’s the release of Windows 7. The successor to Windows Vista, what 7 promises to bring to the table is faster loading time, new codec support, new taskbar, and reliability. It’s everything Windows Vista wasn’t and in many was is what Vista should have been. Now Vista was not an Epic Fail, like Windows ME, but more of a smudge between Windows XP and Windows 7.
I teste… Continue

Ok everyone. So I follow Chris on Twitter along with a lot of other people. He recommended an app to OS X users called Cloak. Cloak is supposed to make your application's titlebars, your menubar, etc. turn different colors - similar to Vista's Aero colors options. Unfortunately, I, like some others, didn't read that it is 10.5.6 only. So I went along and installed it on my Snow Leopard installation and tried changing it. Nothing happened. So I changed it back to default and trashed the app. Thro… Continue
