PC’s that run Microsoft windows are the majority of what the world uses. For the most part most home users and most businesses use PC’s running Microsoft Windows. Though some places and some people use Mac’s. Why is this? Is it style choice? Are Mac’s easier to use?

Have you ever been working on your Mac and then it just all of the sudden slows way down? Well this probably means that you are running out of RAM. But, how would you know this? Well, you use some type of monitoring tool such as Apple's built in System Monitor. But this requires you to have a whole window open, and therefore it is not very convenient. There is an alternative though. iStat menus. This allows you to monitor your computer from the menu bar. (that is the one with the clock in it) Th… Continue

I use Safari as my main web browser, with Firefox as a backup. Now I have nothing ageist Firefox at all, as a matter of fact I have it on my mac as a backup and for uploading youtube videos (the uploader crashes Safari). But, one thing I do wish Safari had is add-ons. Now, in this tutorial, I am going to be showing you how you can somewhat achieve this. I am going to be showing you who to use a program called Glims. Now, Glims is not going to give you add-ons like Firefox ha, but it will atlas o… Continue

I know we have all been there, you have a folder full of files and you need to add something after the name of each of them. This is a task that most people choose to do the hard way, by renaming each file individually. However if you want a program to rename all of the files for you, then you might have invested in some software that can do that kind of stuff. What I bet you didn't know though, is that you can do this for free on any installation of OS X. The application you will be using is ca… Continue

I have used a few programs in the past that automatically upload screenshots to your website, but I think ScreenGrab, so far, is the best. ScreenGrab is a free piece of software developed my someone named Mikey that I know on the Wyldryde IRC Network. The application, for Mac OS X (Windows and Linux versions are made by a different developer), uploads screenshots automatically to your website. All you have to do is install the software, put in some FTP and set some options as you like it. You ca… Continue

Hello everyone, this posts is my first one in ages so bare with me as I try and get my skill back.
Okay, the start of the story goes something like this. I got a virus I had to format my beloved hard disk and I could not be bothered to install windows again and put up with its crap all over again, even though windows 7 is a dream. But anyway, I installed Ubuntu's latest and greatest instalment, version 9.10 and I have to say well done, like seriously. I love it.... So far. To install programs a… Continue

The killer feature of every Mac which can’t be underestimated (and you don’t realise how important it is until you own a Mac) is OS X’s 100% reliable, near-instant suspend and resume.
Windows PCs have just never had this. Reliability on Windows is hit and miss, and it’s nowhere near instant. As a result most people are in the habit of shutting down their PC totally — or worse, leaving them on 24/7, chewing up power.
The difference between Mac and Windows in this respect is the di… Continue

As I wrote the following text, I was in London. This originally appeared on johannessiig.com just a few minutes after writing this:
Part 1:
First impressions
I am in a room with two other people. I’m in a cheap hostel. It has wi-fi, but I had to pay for it. £15. The sheets are clean, the bed is somewhat comfortable.
London is f**king huge! No, seriously. HUGE!
When I arrived at Stansted Airport, which was f*cking huge, we went on a bus, which took us right to our hostel.
At the hos… Continue

So, on October 10th, 2009, Apple came out with brand spanking new Macs. They made updates to the iMacs, Mac Mini, MacBook, the mouse and remote. Here's my impressions of what I seen on the Apple website.
The new iMacs: I must say, I'm rather impressed by the new design. I love that it has 4 USB ports and now an SD card slot just below the SuperDrive. They now come in 21.5 and 27 inches for a bigger display for watching your HD content. Sadly, no Blu-Ray but if it was added, it would really make… Continue
Hey there, i know theres quite a few blog posts out there about whether to get mac or pc, ive had pc's all my life and only ever used macs at school. but at schools they limit what you can do on it so i never got to experience the true mac experience.
My DV9700 laptop recently went through the big NVIDIA GPU chip problem widely spread but not properly compensated for, so far ive had to pay $600 (NZD) to get the mainboard replaced and its failed twice since then, luckily replaced for free each t… Continue
You may be used to your standard watt light bulb. But nowadays it seems that fluorescent lightings are really gaining popularity.
Unfortunately, over the years fluorescent lightings have carried the negative stigma that they provide flickering, sickly, green-tinted, institutional-like, headache-inducing, noisy light. But, those lights that used to be favored only for lighting the garage are making their way into other rooms.
Today, the way of fluorescent lighting has ch... … Continue

As you might know your mac will slow down over time. It does not matter what you do with your mac as long as it is on it will slow down over time. Now don't get scared because it is nothing drastic like windows when you would have to reinstall the OS and you won't have to reinstall OS X either. The thing that happens is overtime files left over from unused programs and caches that never got cleaned pile up on your hard drive. This not only takes up valuable space, but it slows down your overall… Continue

Over all it is a very thin sleek keyboard. Having used it for about a month it is a very sturdy keyboard and is is worth the money. It is relatively cheap compared to other keyboards. Yes, it is small and there is one button I wish I had on this and that is the DEL button. This keyboard is compatible with Mac and Windows, all you really need it a bluetooth device and you are set. Over all this is a great keyboard and I would recommend it to anyone who is out in the market looking for a keyboard! Continue
