Hayden Beckett The Ins and Outs of Cryogenics

Your eyes open you’re feeling cold and everything looks unfamiliar. Oh yes, I remember now. I was cryonically frozen. That money that I had paid them doesn’t seem like a waste I wonder if I can take that trip to Mars I always wanted to do or perhaps even further? I wonder if there is world peace or world war? Perhaps the money that I left in the bank has gained enough interest to make me a billionaire? On the downside there probably isn’t anybody alive and that I know. Well, a little bit more li… Continue

Mike Copeland Follow Friday on The Way Out?

For a while now Follow Friday has been a good way for people to recommend great people to follow on twitter. As a geek I use twitter for sharing information, and interest. One of the people I follow made the statement to me that "more followers isn't better, better followers is more". What I mean by better followers is that none of this spam crap, not someone who spews out senseless nonsense. I’ve used Follow Friday since June I believe, but with the introduction of Twitter Lists Follow F… Continue

iThomasina Digital Wallpaper: The Next Revolution in Home Design?

Wallpaper as we know it today, was invented by Jean-Michel Papillon, a French engraver who started making block designs in matching, continuous patterns in 1675. After 234 years, I think we're ready for a revolutionary redesign! Last June Comcast unveiled an 80' x 30' video wall with 10-million pixels of clarity in the lobby of their building in Philadelphia. And it's not a projection, it's the world's largest 4mm LED screen with 30 million lightbulbs. It is a technological wonder, and I… Continue

Tim Cook Coming To a Household Near You

Technology is constantly improving everyday. Computers becomes faster, robots are now possible, cure for diseases are improving. But the two things that really impressed me is whats going to be in many households worldwide besides robots and computers, 3D and Holographic TVs. 3D Ready TVs are already available to purchase in some stores and few websites. The 3D ready TVs thats coming out in the next year or so requires you to wear glasses, like shutter LCD glasses. Compainies are already develop… Continue

Carl Dieryckx Three steps for Global Warming

Don't you think guys that we are all dOOmed ! Ö Ok, maybe not immediately but it's a fact, the earth is warming up and we have to react ! But we have two major ways to react. We can slow down and eventually stop this whole global warming stuff (wich is most unlikely) or we can adapt to the situation and think ahead. I think that the most realistic plan is to take some of both. Slow down this whole process ánd adapt to what is coming. STEP 1: What the hell are they doing?!!!!!! I am S… Continue

Mike Copeland Chrome OS, Google's new OS the Wave of the future

Ok so Google announced it’s new OS last week, and since then it’s been the biggest topic going around the tech world. I love the concept of Chrome OS, it promises to be a departure of what an Operating System is today, and bring us one step into the future. Microsoft isn’t the only OS that will be attacked by Chrome, Apple will be hit to, but not as bad as the software giant. As for Linux I don’t see how it would affect it since Chrome is built off of Linux. Microsoft has really been lacking in… Continue

Patrick Korkuch Is Google Chrome OS going to be a look into the future?

With the recent announce of Google Chrome OS to come out for netbooks soon, as expected, a Microsoft VP had a few thoughts regarding the news. He said that "most of what Google does is defensive", further stating that when Google enters a market, say, operating systems, the point of doing so is not to release a new product, but to distract competitors from its main focus and source of income, search. This is a thought that is somewhat supported by logic, as traffic to Bing, Microsoft's new searc… Continue

Marcus Münger 64-Bit OS

Am I the only one who thinks that deveopers of any kind should focus alot mor on operating systems with 64-But instead of 32-Bit? There are so many possitive things about 64-Bit like for example that you can then use more than 3GB RAM, which combined with DirectX 10 is nothing less than awesome. If what I've heard is correct then if you use 64 bit and plays a lot of games that doesn't take more that 3GB RAM then your graphics card can "borrow" the rest of the RAM. 64-Bit is probably the future f… Continue

Tyler Brown Has Microsoft lost Focus?

From: http://www.condoulo.info/?p=93 I’ve been looking into it a bit recently, and I am thinking more and more that Microsoft has lost their focus with Windows, and is possibly even looking into the wrong direction. So what is that wrong direction that Microsoft is looking towards? That direction is back towards the past. Microsoft has announced that with every copy of Windows 7 Business and Ultimate, there will also be a copy of Windows XP available to Install in Microsoft VPC2007. I know ther… Continue

Theoren Morris Onlive: My Thoughts

Going through the internet searching for the latest thing to write about I remember something that interested me greatly. The Onlive service that would be coming out later this year. There is something I like about this service, the fact that this the future all of us gamers have been looking for. This means that I can use my Macbook with integrated graphics (Intel X3100) to run Crysis. This concept does look good on paper but how will it pan out when it hits the internet? The idea is simple: t… Continue

Zach Kowalchuk Future PC Upgrades

After getting my Gateway FX Desktop about a week ago, I already have some upgrades planned for it. Future Upgrades: CoolerMaster HAF 932-Nothing really to explain here, The bigger the case the better. Corsair HX620 PSU-The current PSU in my system is only at 400w. Plus, the HX620 is modular making cable management easier. 2x2gb Corsair pc2-6400(x2)-The reason why I plan on 8 gigs, is for running virtual machines when I need to and for future proofing. Rheobus Fan Controller-To control fan speed… Continue

Glenn Dusting Is 3D really the future of Cinema?

Is Jeffrey Katzenberg (Dreamworks Animation CEO) correct: are the current generation of 3D movies “the greatest innovation to occur in the movie business in 70 years?”(1) Answer, no. If you know how a modern 3D movies works, feel free to skip this bit. For those who don’t know a 3D movie is contains two slightly different shots, one for each eye. A digital projector projects these images onto a special silver screen, alternating between the two shots at a rate of 144 frames a second.(2) I rece… Continue

Shtanto Computer of the Future - what's yours like?

What will your computer look like in 10 or 20 years? I think mine will be an innocuous cube the size of a music box with no obvious function. No keyboard, no mouse, no monitor. Just a special unique key that I place beside it with a power button on it. I'll turn it on with the key that also houses my files because keys can store well over 500GB at this stage. It'll also contain a selection of operating systems, depending on my mood. The computer will boot in about 5 or 6 seconds. A small proj… Continue
