Ole Petter Molvig THE OBAMA DREAM & THE US ECONOMY

Many americans, as well as us europeans thought that everything would change if Obama got elected. We were all probably too positive and optimistic, there was just too much that was screwed up to get fixed by this "wonderman". Not to much have happend overseas and the american dept is increasing and peoples frustration about the resession is increasing. Will America survive and get out of this with head attached on? I would say that the most Obama have done for the contry so far, is to give hop… Continue

DogReader Marketing to Your Affection for the Dog

Do you think the dog knows what a Snuggie is? Do you think the dog cares? Evidently, there is a marketing firm that thinks that dog owners care enough to spend ten dollars for a Dog Snuggie: "... "With an estimated 74 million family dogs in the United States, it only made sense to keep those almost 300 million chilly paws warm this season," said Anne Flynn, Director of Marketing for Allstar Products Group." link:… Continue

Robert T A Libertarian Scorned (A Lifetime Movie Network Event)

Over the last few years I have been studying the Austrian business cycle theory and as such, almost every one of my preconceived notions about America, the world financial system and governance itself has greatly changed. I used to have an almost uninhibited American pride and damn near religious belief that America was “God’s democracy”, and as such – here to stay. This was nothing more than extreme hubris and pride. This hubris and pride lead me to support things like; the Iraq war, tax cuts w… Continue

mark devens Well the computer is breaking again.

When i first bought my laptop, a Dell Latitude d600, I thought it was the perfect computer in the world. It had a decent size screen, the Silver color looked nice, it had Windows XP, (I only liked it then, now I'm an Apple fan) even the little things about it were perfect for me like the speakers. Well, that only lasted about a year. I payed well over $1,000 for this laptop, and a little more then a year later, it was already outdated, the vista release candidate was coming out, and i had to buy… Continue

Stephen Unemployment Worse with Stimulus than Without

Matt Cover CNSNews July 6, 2009 Unemployment hit 9.5 percent in June, according to the Department of Labor, putting the figure 2.5 percent higher than the White House had predicted it would be if a government stimulus spending program went into place. Moreover, the new figure is nearly one percent higher than where the White House said it would be without any stimulus spending at all. In fact, the White House never predicted that unemployment would rise above nine percent regardless of whether… Continue

DogReader Success with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in Dogs

It is great news. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy has been treated successfully in dogs: "An international team of researchers has successfully treated dogs with the canine form of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a rapidly progressing and ultimately fatal muscle disease that afflicts one out of every 3,600 boys. The researchers used a novel technique called exon skipping to restore partial function to the gene involved in Duchenne. The study, published in Annals of Neurology, gives hope thatContinue

Mike Copeland Embracing the Stimulus

Through out the morning I have been paying attention to the news, and hearing what is being said about the stimulus package. I am very happy to hear Republicans embracing the stimulus. In my eyes this is a major step in getting our economy back on track. Though it is easy to point the finger at a particular party for the mess that we are in today, and I have also pointed the finger as well. We must work together to pull ourselves out of the economic mess that was eight years in the making. Ther… Continue

DedRyzing "Whatever Doesn't Kill Me..."

There is an old adage that I'm sure most of you have heard which goes something like, "Whatever doesn't kill you can only make you stronger". It's sayings like this that come to mind during these tough economic times, where everywhere you turn you hear news about lay-offs, bail outs, job cuts, bankruptcies, yadda yadda yadda. It's sad really, and in my opinion, complete bullshit. Don't get me wrong. I completely agree that times are tough...for the average "Joe" and "Jane" out there. You know t… Continue

shellyelliot URGENT ByteStyle Action Alert: Stop the Stimulus!

This week's bytestyle was going to look at the broadband stimulus, and why it won't work... until I stumbled across a very active group on twitter, taking action to fight the stimulus bill as a whole. They asked me to join forces with them, and help spread the word about their super-easy plan to stop the stimulus bill.

In case you need convincing, here's what I was in the early stages of compiling for my broadband stimulus episode: ************* I ran a wireless… Continue

pwn247 Circuit City goes broke; Where are the deals?

With word of Circuit City closing all of it's stores, liquidating all of the merchandise, I decided to drop by my local shop to check out the big bargains. Think again. HDTVs were no cheaper than they were before, CDs/DVDs were only discounted a buck or so, computer monitors were still way overpriced ($249 for a no-name brand 20-inch !?), and notebook computers were the same way. It sucks that my only local electronics retailer is bankrupt, and at the same time they've got no bargain-basement… Continue

Sol McNally Aka : Dmitri Girl Walking in the Rain (Why I am home at 3pm)

So I was sort of reluctant about wanting to go to work today. Not sure why it just seemed sort of gloomy. Well I do my normal routine to get ready for work. Go get my clothes. And all that. Then I am about to walk outside and realize it is raining. For some reason my shoulder and bones hurt more when it rains. (Yeah I know I am not old) But it happens. Anyway so I am about to walk out the door with no jacket. And see what appears to be a pretty large water spot in front of my house on the walkw… Continue
