Justin What state is Java in?

It has been a long time since I have written anything in Java. Now I am in a situation where I think going multi-platform for the future is worth going back to Java. I have been in the Cocoa/.NET world for so long now, I don't know about the advances in the java langauge and platform. I know that when I was writing Java it had a horrible reputation for running slow. Actually, there were a lot of complaints about Java at that time, but that seemed to be the main one. How do you feel about Java… Continue

Pyralis Profile Frustrations

This is more of a rant, but whatever... I just had to redo the html in my text box on my profile page three times! I'm going to be backing up my code every time I modify it from now on because I never know when it's going to hang when saving and loose all of the code I have entered. I managed to track down the problem to something with the system not liking the YouTube embed code for some reason. After taking all of the code that I had backed up and pasting it back into my profile, the system… Continue

Lorah ‘Oh you have a Macbook pro.. Your parents bought it right?'

I don’t know how many times I’ve stumbled across (or purposely searched for) peoples Mac setups. I know, It’s a little weird to look at what technical equipment they have & how they’ve placed it but I think us Mac users all share the same opinions about the machines! But what this post is really about is if a younger person posts a setup which includes maybe a Macbook pro and an Apple display for instance. Alot of people will comment on how it runs or looks but there is always the odd couple… Continue

Lorn Spectrel Rant on Norton Internet Security !!^#@@$*&%^^%$#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What other product can you buy and have no record of it by the company? Black market kidneys and is my guess. I just bought a renewal to my internet security (yes, the one that came with the computer). I got the e-mail/ invoice. I entered the renewal code. It gives me the error message that the renewal code is invalid. Ooookaaaaay, I check that the date and time is set right on my computer. I check my Norton account online and that's when I started getting a very weird picture. My Norton account… Continue

Adam Espresso

There is a code editor out there for Mac that I have been wanting to try since I saw it in the Macheist 3 Bundle called Espresso. I finally got my hands on it last night and let me tell you, it is really worth it to buy it. I had been using TextWrangler before which was just a basic code editor. The cool thing about Espresso is that it actually has features. It has a built in FTP/SFTP client, it has the ability to write HTML, PHP, etc. (duh), and it has a feature that allows you to preview what… Continue

Pouros How to directly download video's from youtube in mp4 format.

There are many ways to download youtube video's (for those who didn't know, yes it is possible), and this is one way I prefer. If you don't like going to other website's and installing programs, or converting all those files every time you download them until youtube finally expends it's download service... Then this might be the solution you were looking for. But it is not really easy to do the first times, so patience might be required. The things you will need : 1. Firefox or internet explo… Continue
