The last time I used a CD was, ironically, to copy the content onto my computer so I didn’t have to use the CD. Before that I hadn’t used one in months, and in fact, the only kind of optical media I use at all are DVDs, and even then I tend to have copies on computers or iPods so I don’t have to use the physical disk. 99% of all software I buy are downloads, so the only physical item I own is the license key, and 100% of the music I buy is download-able. I’m living wirelessly, slowly removing op…

Being a musician, one of the things I'm concerned with is good deals on mass production - in other words, getting hundreds of CD's produced for a low price.
Now, everyone has heard of "DiscMakers" (www.discmakers.com) and we all know they have a great reputation. However, when you're on a low budget, every penny counts, right?
I looked online for alternatives and found a company called "Nation Wide Disc" (http://www.nationwidedisc.com/)
Not only are the CD's printed of high quality, but are a…

This is in no way an advertisement but just a tip incase this ever happens to you, I do not make anything off this post. It is just helpful information.
I just did. And then on reboot realized HEY! Grub is still installed... and is now giving me an Error 17. What did I do? I panic thinking I have to reinstall everything again. That means reinstalling Windows 7 (Yes I know, the new one is released tomorrow) and have to reinstall all my programs, games add-on's for games the works. I did some se…

I would just like to say that the reason the Macbook Air does not have a CD drive is because the laptop is for buisness people, who don't need one because they just need infomation from the internet and emails.
If your an average consumer, and you want a mac laptop, by a macbook. There perfect for anybody.

Happy birthday, Compact Disc (CD)!
Today the CD turned 30! It's safe to say that it's over the hill but I still love my CDs, so much greatness on CDs.

One of the Windows "features" that irritates me the most is "Autoplay."
Every time I insert a CD or DVD, good old Autoplay jumps up and offers to do something for me.
"Hey, do you want me to search your disk for pictures, music, etc? Do you want me to play it, sort it, etc?! I'm here to serve!!!"
My reaction is always the same: "Shut up, get out of my face."
Most of the DVDs I insert contain content to go with Poser, Carrara or DAZ|Studio. These are 3D Graphics programs. I don't believe Wind…

Gather ye round the fire and harken unto my words! I have many stories I could tell, but none is fresher in my mind that the tale of Shtanto and how he overcame all the odds to re-establish himself on his throne!
Once upon a time, little more that a year ago,
Shtanto began building a newer mightier throne,
It would be a quad core system par excellence bar none
And the world would gape in awe if he could ever get it done
So Shtanto clicked and whirled and wheezed
Through Internet forums and arc…

When success comes in after hard work, the leader should give the credit
of the success to the team members.
When failure comes, the leader should absorb the failure and
protect the team members.
This is an

I just installed Linux Mint on my hard drive. I think it's way better than SLAX, Nimblex, and a lot of other Linux distros. Also the installation was super easy. I still have Windows on my hard drive, but my main OS is Linux. For installation you just put the CD in and click the second option that says install like a program. I think it took about 20-30 minutes to completely install it on my hard drive, Windows took me around an hour. You can also customize Linux a lot more than you can Windows.…

Well it's that time of year again and everyone knows what I'm talking about... CHRISTMAS. Christmas is great there is happiness, presents, and we get to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Don't get me wrong Jesus is the main reason for Christmas but I'm going to be talking about the gifts portion.
Well I'm glad I'm older so I can get electronics and MONEY! I love money especially when you know what you're going to buy. One of the most exciting things I'm getting for Christmas is an iPod Dock. For th…

We all know the economy sucks. Too many of us are strapped for cash, need an alternative source of income. Hell, some of us just want some more money because that's the American Dream after all (no offense to any foreigners reading this, I still love you all!).
So let me bless you with some insight regarding the easiest, most enjoyable, and downright fortuitous job I know of, DJing. That's right folks, spinning records or playing CD's can't get much better.
Why? Well to start, regardless of a…

Hey all,
What's up? I am fine. I have not done much lately. Yesterday I rearranged some of the stuff in my home theater setup (see previous blog post). It runs much cooler now, and is much easier to get to behind it. I moved the CD player to the bottom as it was so deep that it not only caused heat issues, but made it difficult to access the backs of the various pieces of equipment. I also moved the amp up, to further improve heat problems. I also am thinking of moving my room to another room.…

Hey everyone!
If you have seen some of my other blog posts, than you probably saw the one where I had the home theater setup. Well, I have much improved it. It now has an additional tape deck and a 5 disk CD changer. I have had some issues with the CD changer, but after all, it is from 1990. I also put it in an entertainment center. Here are some photos:

Top Seven Home Theater Setup Tips
1. Get good equipment. If you want to have a good home theater setup, do not buy cheap or lousy equipment. You will thank yourself later as the better quality gear may last longer and have better audio and video quality. Pioneer and Bose would be paramount. If you are more on a budget, Sony audio equipment is good as well.
2. Beware of interference. Interference (such as electromagnetic and radio interference) can have a noticeable impact on quality and someti…

I have been using CDDA Ripper XP for years now and had great luck with the utility when I used Windows XP. Now that I am trying Vista, I needed an alternative as the CDDA Ripper XP product did not work well in Vista with my USB DVD drive. Since I am on a laptop and keep a second battery in the media bay, an external DVD drive works best for me.
I searched around a bit and found "Free CD Audio Ripper" from Koyotesoft.com
The interface is very similar (and simple) to the CDDA Ripper XP tool and…

So, I was browsing online for some free dvd burning software and I came across a very strange software called "AnyDVD HD" from the company "Slysoft". www.slysoft.com, if anyone is interested.
Reading on the site, it's rather strange to see what this software can do. (Again, this software is perfectly legal.) What "AnyDVD HD" does is that it removes the every single copy protection there is on the DVD/CD/BR. Yes, that's right. All you have to do is you put the disc in the drive and you don't eve…
