This is something I didn't stumble upon, I made it myself. This tiny utility I made for Safari will kill all your flash banner adds and other annoying plugins.
To implement browser plugin crash resistance into Safari, in Snow Leopard all Safari plugins are run in a separate process called "WebKitPluginHost" so that if the plugin crashes, it kills that process, and the browser remains intact.
This utility assumes that you use both Safari and are running Mac OS X Snow Leopard. This ONLY works wi… Continue

The Sky+HD (UK) radio ad (on Absolute Radio (UK)):
So, let's break it down:
They say they have 10 dedicated movie channels. (on their website they have 12, but well...)
In total 600 movies per month.
600/10 = 60 movies per channel per month.
60/30 (days in a month) = 2 movies per day? What the ****?
How the HELL can anyone call something a dedicated movie channel when it shows, on average, 2 movies per day?
Advertisements lie these days way too much.
What do you think? Leave a com… Continue

Today, July 22, 2009, I went to upload my new video. Everything was normal until I tried to click on the "upload" button. What was in it's place? A TMobile advertisement with some buy two get one free scam. That's right, The ad was blocking the upload button no matter what I tried to do.
Now I know youtube has to make money somehow and I guess this is there way of doing it. (But doesn't Google make enough money already?)
Lukily, I took a s… Continue
I always knew they were there but I just noticed how immediate and personal they have become. For example, I get newsletters from Old Farmers Almanac and Grit as well as my Lockergnome Windows fanatic and Geeks. I sometimes click the links and other times right-click to open a new window. Because I use a SMTP email server as my primary contact (see note at bottom for reasons this can be better than POP3) the windows open in the JUNO default browser which is a compact version of IE5. Cookie handl… Continue

This advert must be the worst of them all! The whole idea is to persuade users to purchase a PC over a Mac right? The only reason why she got a PC over a Mac was because the Mac only had 2GB ram. Big deal!!! There is such a thing as cheap ram upgrades and they are sooo easy to do. This advert is just completely pointless!
Microsoft should just give up right now with their advertising scheme beca… Continue
On March 28th I wrote about the new ads being produced by Crispin Porter + Bogusky for the Windows platform to fight off the Apple marketing assault. The ads are still attacking the fact that Macs are still very expensive and aren’t available to everyone. In the ad above CP+B uses two kids, while in their first attempt they used the naive PC shopper “Lauren” wh… Continue
I clicked to watch a video on YouTube, anyway to my amazement an ad right beside the video started to play and make noises, I thought to myself "How the hell am I meant to watch this video in peace with these stupid ads!"
I wish they would clean up their act and find some other less annoying way of making money. Don't get me wrong I am for YouTube but its the little things like this that really annoy me.
One of twitter's main struggles along the way has been trying to figure out how to monetize. It seems that the recent influx of celebrities, and prominent corporations has greatly accelerated twitter's rollout of these new money making technologies. Additionally, twitter has started placing textual ads in the right hand corner of the twitter page, just under the followers/following tally(See Picture) Personally, I feel that twitter has executed this first stage of their monetization strategy(or… Continue
Last night I saw an ad for Windows Vista on the TV and was appalled at how lame it was. Microsoft, a multi-billion dollar company should be making better ads. Showing Seinfeld read a lame script, and pictures of wheat fields with 'VISTA' written across them doesn't tell me anything about what they want me to purchase. It's not subliminal advertising, it's not creative advertising, it's just embarrassing.
The one I saw last night showed people in a kiosk using Vista for the first time. In… Continue

Many beginner web developers pride them selves in making money, their first thought of revenue is “Adsense”. Now don’t get me wrong it’s not only beginners that do this but the majority is. There can be problems when they add Adsense to their website:
1. The ads over powers your content, and makes it really hard to read. Many people would just click the cross and find another alternative.
2. It can make your website look unprofessional and people do not want to purchase your product.
3. The web… Continue

We all remember how bad those commercials with Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld were and apparently so did Microsoft. Because they decided to take a different approach to cleaning up Vista’s bad image that was destroyed by Apple’s “I’m a Mac and I’m a PC” ads by placing a Microsoft-branded kiosk in front of an Apple store in Bullring, Birmingham, England. The kiosk lets you record “I’m a PC” video which will later be used in Vista’s commercials. The kiosk has 3 Microsoft staff members whic… Continue

What do you guys think of this:
I am just wondering what I should do about my adsense ads during this election period. I am very very strongly NO on Prop 8 (I am all for gay marriage and rights here in California), and yet the ad I have on my blog keeps showing Yes on Prop 8 ads! Ugh. :( Should I forget about using adsense until after the election, put a disclaimer like "the views expressed by adsense are not necessarily my own"), or leave them in and not worry about it? It does bother me thoug… Continue
Ok guys. I was playing Mobsters the other day and it gave me an idea. If I can make money in a game I can make money in real life.
I was looking around on the web and there are a bunch of websites where you get money for clicking on ads, alot of them are scams but I found a few that arent. But my favorite one is NeoBux. The Reason im telling you is OF COURSE I'll make money if you join through my referral link. http://www.neobux.com/?r=Idkfawin32
But all you have to do to make money is the sam… Continue
OK. Im not exactly a microsoft fan right here, but i mean if a mutibillion dollar company cant create the thechnology to produce his own ad's what can you expect from his products??
Sure, there is office, windows, home server and all that... but come on, the purpose of ads is to convince people to go and buy your products, that the're safe, and stable to use. Seeing the microsoft ads it has been such a dissapointment to me, those $300 million go directly to the trash.
Ohh... and one more thing.… Continue
I remember back when, early in the election process, when McCain said he wanted to run a nice "clean" campaign and not bash or bring down the person running opposite of him, of course things have changed. The McCain campaign is running two ads now and both are clearing false and is shocking to hear that McCain supports these ads.
Thankfully the ladies from The View are smarter then your average Fox, see what I did there, and they grilled Mr. McCain on these ads. Also in the v… Continue
