Dishonesty, Deception, Trickery ... it's the way of doing Business in America

Why has America accepted these practices with an "Oh well!" attitude.

Why aren't we outraged when Monster Cables sells an HDMI cable for $79.99 that they imply works better than a standard cable when video expert (Scott Wilkinson) will tell you the $5.99 HDMI cable works the same. Dishonesty is everywhere. Companies will go to any length to increase their bottom line ... ethics… Continue

Black Friday - The Shopping Spree Online - All Week - and then Cyber Monday Sucked!

For those of you who didn't notice last week had some pretty nice discounts ... You didn't have to go to Walmart or BestBuy at 5am to get the deals either.

In fact you didn't have to wait until Friday to start shopping either because most of the online stores had deals going all week that were usually better than the stuff in the advertising circulars where… Continue

Just dropped in to say hi. I hadn't been to your home (page) in a while and was cruising the 'hood so popped in. I just re-read your profile and see that you have six (6!!!!!) networked PCs at home. Wow, you really are a geek! Sending you a smile. It's Thankful Thursday at ecopaparazzi and I want you to know that I'm thankful for your friendship. Blessings to you, Todd!

The drive is a WD5000AAJB, $75 from newegg.com. About all I really checked was that it had decent noise characteristics (had to go poke around the western digital site to get the actual spec sheet for it). Its a 3.5" drive, but I haven't had any heat problems with it. You can hear it spin up, but after it gets moving its quite quiet.

PlayOn worked once for me, then I had to restart the service to get the Popcorn hour to be able to browse any content again. After restarting th uPnP service things seemed to be back to normal. Also notice that PlayOn likes to eat memory on the host box. I know its doing a heavy load of transcoding and buffering, but my laptop wasn't good for much else while I was watching a show. Granted its not as speedy as a desktop...

I got mine about a month ago. Slapped a 500gb drive in it and have been happy ever since. I found reference to this group and the PlayOn software the other day. PlayOn, if it becomes stable, may be the perfect complement to the popcorn hour.

While you're at ecopaparazzi.ning.com later on today can you do me a favor and review it from an aesthetic point of view? I'd like to know if you think it's too hard to read the white text against the black background, and if the green header is too faint against the photo. Monitors are all so different and on mine the site looks really nice, but I'm afraid all monitors are not created equal, so I'd like your feedback. I'd like to hear about anything that strikes you as out of place, if you don't mind. Thanks for your support and solidarity.

Well, I've just launched a new social network site called EcoPaparazzi, for environmental media activists. I'm still tweaking it but would like to invite you to come on over and check it out and post a few blurbs to help get the ball rolling. Let me know how I can improve the site, too, OK? I'm still learning all this stuff. Here's the URL: http://ecopaparazzi.ning.com/
