Oh my goodness, this is hysterical. I need to get more creative myself, my cell phone will allow me to create an import in any type of ring tone that I can think of. Well I guess I'm not too creative all I have all the sounds of the Star Trek comm...

To any extent its obviously 21-22C is not accurate, there are no sinks that efficient, I run liquid and I don't get these kind of temps at idle on my 45nm chip.

I think most of the issue as far as the thermal performance between amd and intel is that like you said unless you have an apples for apples comparison, the argument is kind of mute. The architectures between the two greatly differ, let alone the ...

That re-affirms my suspicions to problems with the program not being properly offset. Even at idle state no chip ever runs as cool as ambient, not even the ULV chips. I have heard plenty of fodder on how some programs do not correctly report temps...

How much do you have plugged into the circuit? Are you sure that the computer is the only thing losing power? Is there a circuit breaker with an automatic reset in the circuit? Is one component in the case failing--like for example the cooling fa...

I am using a Apevia Q-Pack 2 Cube case with a Zalman aftermarket cooler. I did have to remove the DVD/CD rom support rail form the case to fit in my GTX 285. since it's a small ass case.

actually thats pretty accurate for that cpu temp depending on the case. I have the same cpu and can state that his cpu temps are around the same as mine on idle, right around the 22-24C mark. I know intels for the most part run a little hotter but...

Actually from seeing your temps it seems that either... A. The temp sensor thermocouple is flawed or... B. The Program you are using is incorrectly reporting temperatures. To anybody that has overclocked anything before, how many of any of you s...

Thanks for the reply guys! I moved my whole setup over to the other side of the room and so far it's been fine. So I will keep it here for a week to make sure. I think it's time to just rip my whole computer room a part and set it up the right way...

Good advice. It could also be a leaky capacitor or one that is ready to go on the motherboard. Check the capacitors on your motherboard and look at the tops where it looks like an X or a Y, and see if any of them are starting to bulge out and/or a...

I have been having a strange issue with my computer, I can't for the life of me figure it out. My computer is randomly shutting off. I thought it was a PSU issue at first or a overheating issue. Here is a screenshot of my temps and voltages. ...

Red Hat: 'We spend over $100 million a year to advance Linux'

Matthew Szulik, Red Hat's former CEO and current chairman, has been in semi-retirement for the past two years, but you'd never know it from listening to his interview with the BBC's Peter Day. Szulik, ever the revolutionary, talks up open source's opportunity to disrupt conventional software and promote social reform.

As he does so, however, he inadvertently describes Red Hat's winning… Continue

Pirate Bay Sale Dead in the Water

In a few days time Global Gaming Factory is supposed to have gathered millions of dollars in funding so they can acquire The Pirate Bay. But according to Wayne Rosso, the former CEO of Grokster who was involved with GGF recently, this is unlikely to happen. Meanwhile, The Pirate Bay is giving GGF a week before they cancel the deal.

Last month the BitTorrent community was shaken up when GGF publicly annou… Continue

Geek Spiderman Scales Walls With DIY Vacuum Gloves

Spiderman, Spiderman, does everything a spider can! Including, it seems, using home-made vacuum gloves to stickily scale the walls of the BBC’s White City building, a vertical drop of 120 vertigo-inducing feet.

In this case, Spiderman isn’t the meek Peter Parker but engineer and TV presenter Jem Stansfield. Looking more like a low-rent steampunk Doc Ock than Spidey himself, Jem clanks his way to the top, in front of a cheering crowd. There’s even a dramatic slip a few yards… Continue

Resident Evil 5 PC system requirements

There's no short supply of vocal people around these parts who didn't enjoy Resident Evil 5. Why? My guess is they didn't find it scary enough, it was too similar to Resident Evil 4, and it also wasn't as good as its predecessor. Does that make it a ridiculously horrible game that no one should ever play? Apparently.

But for those who found Resident Evil 5 to be the game equivalent of a summer action flick, or just plain liked hearing D.C. Douglas say the word "uroboros" again and again, here a… Continue

Splinter Cell Conviction and Red Steel 2 delayed till 2010

We heard rumblings of this last week, but we didn't want to believe it was true -- Ubisoft has pushed the releases of Splinter Cell Conviction and Red Steel 2 into 2010.

In its First-Quarter 2009-10 Sales report, the publisher confirmed the delays, along with confirmation that the fourth fiscal quarter will see the release of a new Ghost Recon, as well as the mysterious I Am Alive.

In fact, the second quarter of fiscal 2009-10 sees very few Ubisoft releases. The publisher only plans to release… Continue
