What kind of geek are you?
geek-of-all-trades / jack-of-all-nerd
Why do you consider yourself a geek?
well, let's see. i had a BASIC video game I wrote published when I was 9 years old, I spend more time alone reading comic books, listening to science podcasts, and playing video games than anyone else I know; and I have a robust affinity for Japanese cartoons. Hm!
How did you find out about our Geek community?
Chris Pirillo's youtube channel
What are your "geeky equipment" specs?
I have three laptops: a 3.3-lb Vaio named Corey that traveled all over Japan with me; a beastly 17-inch Dell named Violet that is so laden with USB devices and external hard drives and A/V connections that it is effectively immobile; and a geezer of a G4 powerbook named Hazel that's good for entertaining guests when they need to "check their email" or browse my music collection via iTunes or what-have-you.

As a media producer (film, sound, etc) I have lots of DV and sound equipment, but I'm not that keen on listing it all, that sort of thing is just not that interesting to me.

Tools are tools... I only pay attention to them when they suck or stop working. My stuff doesn't suck and works fine, so I'm happy.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
independently wealthy
What makes you laugh?
righteous indignation
What is the thing in life you treasure most?
my health. boring but true.
What's the geekiest thing you've ever done?
Oh please. I geek out each day as if it were my last.
What do you do to entertain yourself?
Frankly, I wouldn't know; I never really get bored.
Favorite music, movies, books, shows, artists, games, people, events, hobbies, etc.?
I sing, I drum, I play guitar. Sometimes I write songs, but generally I like to take metal and prog rock songs (e.g. Avantasia) and cover them as lounge, electro, or new wave.

I'm a recovering game addict....

I've been known to VERY RESPONSIBLY play:
* Fallout 3
* Wipeout HD
* Rock Band 2 (plz look me up on PS3: nthmost)

Strategy games like Starcraft and Civilization would put me right back in rehab.

Investigating CMS / social networking frameworks for Linux...

I'm about to dive headfirst into creating a social network intended for a relatively small group (about 300 people). It will be focused on sharing information, photos, videos, and collaborations between studios in the artist / hacker community I am a part of.

What seems to be very much wanted is for every user to get their own subdomain, e.g. nthmost.oaklandart.net, and I envision that each person's "realm" will be both self-contained (so they can bring in lots of web traffic OR stay relatively… Continue

:-) Cool to connect w/ you...
yes - I actually no longer call myself a 'raw foodist' as it seems to come with some sort of expectation(s) or something. I prefer thinking of myself as a raw/whole food enthusiast...keeps me out of any pre-conceived box anyone might 'put' me in. ;-)

And yes!! Definitely proud to be a Geek!

Be well,
~Rebecca (SFG)
