well the motors in them are a 3phase type pulsing so its like 5v+5v+5v pulsing on 3 different connections and 1 ground/-dc so... the motors are useless unless you hook them to the board... if the hard drive still spins and no clicking just wont sh...
i would use ubuntu server and webmin and setup ssh/vpn connection. check out the new hak5 video it shows some vpn work that might get you on the right track.
it looks flashy for all the wintards i made it blue screen in a few minutes with driver install then i got it to lock up trying to install 3 programs at once ( duo core machine should handle 3 freewares )... then it just randomly freezes and unfre...

go to synaptic and search. i have the new ubuntu alpha it has a add/remove manager on it and you pick the catagory then it list the programs available its nice.

so...servers done
so last night i ended up setting up my server in my living room on one of my glass shelves until i put a wall socket in my hall closet ( its a big closet i could setup a small office in it lol ).. anyways im going to drop a outlet into it this weekend and put the server in there but for now its in my living room.

ubuntu server
so i have my old rig from a few years ago its a
3.06ghz mobile p4 478 from a toshiba laptop ( silvertop )
p4s800d-x asus desktop board
overclocked to 5.2ghz stable ( over 5.2 and it would bluescreen on video encoding only )
with 2gb of xms
( air cooled with big ass coolermaster heatsink with fan controller )
anyways.. im going to drop it in a 4u box ( buying off ebay on its way... )
and drop a bunch of my old hard drives ( 500gb and 1tbs) in it i have some 3x5 1/4 bay with 120mm fan bay adaptor… Continue
