Why do you consider yourself a geek?

jack of all trades, master of none.

What are your "geeky equipment" specs?

i am mostly technology agnostic. use whatever works for what you need to do.

i don't mind when people favor one technology over another. one should have a choice.

steampunk and dieselpunk anachronisms are prime examples of bringing imagination and creativity to what would have been -if we went another route with technology. thinking of various solutions to a similar problem may bring about -as in convergent evolution- a converging process of separate thought leading to similar designs and of importance, a more robust combinatorial innovation.

however, surprisingly some people bring bigotry into technology -instead of being tolerant and open to the fact other people use different technologies (mac, pc, other). failure to see the importance of technological diversity implied in generating new innovations in its own sustainable advancement is very much in parallel with the importance of genetic diversity in a species population. while one gene may not have the answer, its variability may strike well with its environment to provide a best fit scenario. in the same light, technological innovations and advancements can come from the unlikeliest of places. no one technology is perfect -just like no one gene or genome is perfect. both are best reflected on how either fits their respective environment for the sake of its ideal survival condition.

why limit oneself in our technology choices when the basic purpose of technology is to de-limit and expand our capabilities? sounds counter intuitive to me.
