That is true! And with that in mind, we can conclude that antarctica, is the driest place on earth! If you get thirsty in a "sand-desert", it would be more difficult to find water... Because we can't drink melted sand :) Melt some snow and enjoy!...

Antarctica is considered a "Desert" because "Desert" doesn't mean hot or cold. The definiton of the word is "Lack of humidity" (No Moisture In The Air).
